My truck only has 66,000 miles but since I put on the new tires and wheels, I felt it was time to change the shocks. They (Old ones) felt okay but didn't have much resistance left in them. I chose the yellow Bilsteins. I bought the set from a business on ebay and they beat all prices and free shipping too. The ride is now quieter and much smoother.
 
I put a set on last year at 42k miles. The originals didn't seem to control the truck very well on some roads. I took them off and they didn't seem that bad in hand. I installed the Bilsteins (yellow/blue) and the ride immediately tightened up and felt controlled. It was a good upgrade.
 
The fronts are easy too if you use a GOOD floor jack and jack up the truck on the FRAME on the side you are working on. I have a 2 ton Lincoln floor jack and I centered a stout, one foot piece of 4x4, LENGTHWISE on the jack pad. I jacked up the truck, NOT off the ground, but to get it up enough to work on and not have to struggle with the NEW shock NITROGEN load on it that keeps it extended. FIRST, I removed the TOP shock nut. I then used a 16 inch long, 3/8ths extension with a 15 mm socket on the end and loosen up and remove the nuts on the top shock towers. I used my impact, you can use a 1/2 drive ratchet also, and removed the BOTTOM bolt. I then pulled out the shock from the top. Installation is in reverse BUT, I DON"T tighten up the bottom bolt until the top tower and top shock nut is secured. This makes sure that the shock is aligned well with no bind before the bottom bolt is torqued down tight. You will need a 6mm Allen wrench to hold the shock shaft from turning while you tighten the shock, center nut at the top. Make sure you install the metal spacer in the new rubber parts for the new shock. Tighten the center shock nut until it is against the spacer.
The RIGHT FRONT is a bit of a PITA to get the bottom bolt out because the steering linkage is in the way. I can't remember but I had to turn the wheels either hard right or left to be able to wiggle a socket into the bottom bolt. All in all, I think the whole job took me less than an hour doing FRONT and BACK shocks.
I ordered a new STEERING DAMPER also. There is apparently two different ones. One looks like a regular shock absorber but laid sideways and the one on my '07 has a pin mounted on one end. I ordered the wrong one. Here is a link to the guy I bought from. GREAT price and free shipping. His ebay name is hardpartsfast.
