Just was thinking while sitting here reading... and came up with something else to be said for rattles...

If you get rid of 1/2 of the openings and closeings of the injector by going to one injection event instead of 2 (or more), wouldn't you double the life of your injectors??

By having them doing half the number of valve shifts per power stroke the injector should last longer before wear takes it out of service. . This assumes that other things (like heat and good fuel quality) are not a factor in why your injectors go TU...

Maybe so, like I said I'm waiting on one of these guys to come up with a solution for one, (in my opionion) to get the great sound back! :D And Secondly, so us 3rd gen guys can benefit from these other factors mentioned above and prevously it has been a long wait Oo. But if this does happen it will be a very good day for me and many other people as well :)

I'm shure that the ecm on the third gens can be programed. If the dealer can make changes so can others with the right equipment.
Actually they now come blank when you buy an new ECM and have to be programmed.

.wav

Somebody tell me where to get the Diesel. WAV please and if you can tell me how to get it to my cingular phone that would be great too. Oo. :D

I have a cable to connect my phone to my computer, then I used a program called Bitpim to connect to the phone. I think I had to convert the wav to mp3 then copy it to the phone. I think if its a camera phone you might be able to email yourself a copy of the wav file, then save it on the phone. Just edit the file so its a little smaller first.

Back on topic, I remember that when starting my 03 on very very cold days it would really rattle for several minutes until some preset condition was meant ( speed, time? etc). Just a thought.

I would not try it, BUT we here at the dealership disconnected the FCU on the CP3 while the truck was running, THATS A NO-NO!!!

That thing sounded like it was going to rattle to the ground, it sounds like a sledpulling 12v!

Just got back from the SEMA show , a lot of great stuff , stopped by the Bosch both and asked if I could talk to somebody about he HPCR system. He asked me if anybody missed the rattle ,I said their were a few guys that did and asked for a switch on the dash to go to rattle mode he laughed.

When it's cold in the morning sounds just like a 2nd Gen. If you wind it up over 3400-3600 RPM's the pilot injection also shuts off sounds plenty loud pulling a long hill with a load. I saw one exhaust on a 3rd Gen. that RIP built for a guy were he turned a muffler back-words and it became like a mega-phone very loud, and at that time he only had an edge EZ on it. If you want to make noise give RIP a call he will put together anything you can afford to make noise. Personally I like it quiet I was the guy who always brought the girls home late stealth has it's advantages. :-laf

Better not consider a newer one than your '03 either. My '05 was substantially quieter than my '03, side by side comparison. My '06 is noticably quieter than my '05, pretty much gasser quiet at idle. no problems at the drive through in that truck. My buddy has an '01, he seems to really like the quiet and serious power advantages the new trucks have. I would tend to agree.

I sure liked my '03 QC HO though. Just enough clatter, lots of power stock and I was getting 22 mpg.

Before I bought my present truck (03'), I had a 96' it was pretty loud and rattled pretty good. The 03' is very quiet, but with my 'Volumizer' box set in the #3 position (+100hp) it rattles fairly loud, not sure why, could be the timing or pulse?

What's wrong buddy can't get your truck to sound like mine :{ . Know who this is? Give ya two guesses and one don't count. Hint I live about an 1/8th of a mile away from you :-laf . Hey PM or call me I may be needing some help in the near future. Thanx That post was meant for CRicker.

My truck is only queiter than yours at an idle! Man I'll try to help you get your truck to where it can half-way keep up with mine :-laf Alright man give me a holler sometime on my cell! I'll give you credit though at least you didn't buy a ford or chevy diesel :)

Since my '05. 5 won't rattle like my '01. 5, figured I make my cell phone rattle instead. My only question is, HOW do you download that diesel . WAV file onto a Motorola V710? Anyone have any advice?

Pre fire shut off

I had John who is an engineer @ cummins light duty plant build me an 03 hpcr motor, he built a custom program for the ECM and he shut off the pre fire event after idle within saftey parameters he was able to get 525 ft of tq @ Idle and climbed to 950 ft by 900 RPM however it is a rear gear Drivetrain Motor with a #3 bell so I have not installed it in anything yet. It uses the same fuel system as the dodges. I have been tempted to contact the edge Boys and see if they could download the program and reflash a dodge ECM here are the transient tables he sent me
