I bought a Putnam XDR hitch. Well I noticied that it doesnt' have a place for me to install the trailer harness like the stock hitch. What have you guys done? I was thinking of just cutting it off my old hitch and welding it to the new one.
I removed one of my license plate lights and mounted the trailer socket in that position. Gets it up higher - out of the water when launching my boat, and above the "rock solid" mud flap.
I just bought a bracket and mounted it to the bottom of the bumper just left of the hitch. Works great and I really like the straight plug rather then that crazy sideways deal DC had going.

I did the same thing but while at the trailer dealer the other day I noticed a plastic holder that will tie wrap onto the receiver tube and protect the backside of the wiring harness. I piceked it up for about $6.
