you have to have a 00 or newer axle i think the one with dual piston calipers then you just need the 3 gen caliper mounting brackets and calipers and the 3rd gen roters and pads. i think the calipers might even be the same and you just need the different caliper mounting brackets

yea its all factory parts. I think the rear discs can be upgraded too but i have not tried yet. i have 02 axles and my dad has an 04 truck so swaped the parts from his truck to check it all out before i bought the 3rd gen parts i think i got calipers and brackets for $75 from a junkyard

so did the rotors or pads look bigger. hows the brakes?dealer wants 75. 00 ea. for the brackets. he too thinks this might work.

the rotors are bigger but don't think there is a lot of difference with the pads but the bigger diameter rotor makes a big difference is stopping power

Okay, now I have a question...

Hi... I have a Gen. 2 '95 Ram 2500 TD 5sp. man reg cab 4. 2. It is disc front, drum rear, and I'd like to upgrade the rear to newer disc--factory parts if possible, but would be interested in aftermarket if necessary. I carry lots of weight on my truck and would like to have the extra braking power the discs would give in the rear. Any info/ideas much appreciated.

Thanks!

Cheers,

Deanna  ;)

I can't believe no one makes a decent disk brake conversion for 2nd gen dodge 2500s. EGR makes a kit that is outragesly priced for a stock, remanufactured, single piston caliper. $1000. 00 for 2 reman calipers, 2 slotted rotors, 2 brakets, 2 brake lines, and fluid. That's crazy. This is not new technology. Sorry for the rant. Brake discussions hit a nerve with me. Good luck in your search for a solution. I will be eagerly waiting to hear one.

Thanks! Really appreciate in the input

Thank you so much! Yeah, I had seen ads for the EGR kit, and just wondered if there were any other viable alternatives out there at this time. The three things I'd like to do to my Ram is to put a GearVendors on it, a Pac/or Banks/Brake, and the rear disc conversion. I really like my truck. . it's a great vehicle, economical, solid and strong as a rock. Thanks again. Happy Holidays!

Doing my brakes now. not upgrading to 3rd gen as the brackets are 150. 00 a pair. using high quality rotors. ambulance pads and putting chevy rear wheel cylinders in.

I hear you... But the drum brakes on mine sure could use some help, so that's why I'm keeping the upgrade to disc at least on the back burner for the time being. Thanks so much for the feedback... :) Have a great holidays!

Brakes work the same. bigger rotors(3 gen) and rear disks would be I think the only logical way to get more stopping power. good parts only do so much.

where woulg i go to save on the caliper brackets to do the front. is there a mailorder/online dodge dealer for parts?junkyard specializing in 3 gen tuck parts?like still to do this conversion.

Was there any wheel clearance issues? I've got an 02 that I'm going to be replacing the brakes on soon and thought I might upgrade to the third gen brakes as well. The master cylinder bore is the same so I would think it would be a nice swap. Does the truck seem to stop evenly?

I have a 200 3500 long box and I tow with it I would like to know the part numbers for a chevy wheel cylinder for this vehicle, anything that would help the braking is a help.

i dont think the chevy wheel cylyders made a huge improvement. but for 20. 00 who cares... . jmho. not sure the 3rd gen rotors are that good idea either. 150. 00 for the caliper brkts and u need the 17" wheels... .

I stuck them on my truck and noticed it pulls down more even, a good mod I think.

Napa Part # for a 1. 125 (1 1/8) wheel cylinder is 37291

You can check this by going to the Napa site and scrolling down to Search Napa catalog , click on it and then enter part # 37291. Napa also refers to it as UP 37291 cost is $10. 99ea
