Hello all,

I'm new to the club here and have a question. I'm in the process of buying a 1992 club cab 2wd from the classifieds on this web site. I really love Dodge trucks since my first ever truck which I had 10 years ago. It was a 88 D-150 2wd V6 5 speed with no options. But I loved it. Since then I have jumped from dakota to dakota then to a Mazda B4000 which I absolutly loved as well. Now I currently have a 89 F-150 because my wife and I just celebrated the birth of our first child. A boy. I bought the ford because it was cheap and had a bench seat in the rear. The first gen dodge club cabs don't as you all know. I realized pretty early on why i really loved my dodges compared to the ford. My question is have any of you ever heard of or installed yourself a bench seat from a 2nd gen or other vehicle in the rear of a 1st gen?My other option would be bolt a seat belt into the middle rear of the truck and strap the car seat to the floor. Or bolt the base that the car seat clips into to the floor. Do any of these ideas sound good?Thank for your input

There is a manufacturer of aftermarket seats for our trucks, here in BC, Canada.

The rear is a small bench, with a backrest that is seperate from the seat itself. It attaches to the rear bulkhead using a large strip of industrial velcro.

I had the front bench changed out to buckets with center jumpseat, and rear bench as above some years ago.

One or two other guys have gone with this setup since then.

Also I think there was someone who had some success with using another truck seat in the rear but I honestly can't remember who or what it was.

If you want more info just let me know and I'll dig out the receipt and post the info for you.

Bench Seat

In an early edition of the TDR magazine, there is a photo of a bench seat taken out of "a mid-70s" Ford super cab truck installed in place of the Dodge jump seats. In a later edition, the member writes in with a very limited drawing of the brakcets needed to mount it.

I have a 2nd gen seat out of my 96 back there just for that purpose. Its a tight fit and the bottom of the bench is against my center consol of my custom seats... It does fit though even if little jr's feet are hanging over my maps... LOL...

I think a 2nd gen is in order to accomodate any further additions to the family...
