A friend of mine has a 95 auto, and I slid the plate forward and clicked his starwheel out. Now he's wantin to put a bigger plate in it. Well I was told that b/c his pump is the 160hp pump that putting a bigger plate in without jumping up to at least a set of 215hp injectors wouldn't be a good idea. He pulls a trailor alot, and I dont wanna put a bigger plate in it b/c I dont wanna put that much strain on it if that's true. Please give me some info. Thanks

I think he needs to upgrade the transmission first. Otherwise just more noise and not much action. I still have the 160HP injectors and am waiting to see if they deteriorate and give me an excuse to get the 215s. No luck, the orginal injectors are still going strong at 163K miles.

So far so good on my 2wd Ram. I still have the stock injectors on it. I'm fixing to put a #6 plate in my 4x4. Probably won't upgrade the injectors until I do the transmission upgrade. Your friend can probably make his transmission hold together if he will just be careful how and when he uses his new found power.

Thanks for the info guys. I know it's gonna help the truck a good bit b/c another friend has pretty much the same truck as well and he has a 250 plate in it, but the main reason for concern was the towing issue. I guess we'll have to try it out this weekend and see what it does. Thanks

Blacky,
it is a good idea to put injectors in. It's not the injectors that suffer, it's the pump. This of course eludes some people, and haunts others. It is a matter of many variables, but what is a constant is the pressure is increased by increasing the fuel load and not the injector size.

If I had to do it over again, I would do the valve body in the trans, *before* the first power upgrade. That way my trans might have lasted longer than 44k miles.
