I'm gonna try the new injectors that piers is offering. I would like to put them in my truck in the near future and compare them to the pw's as 6BIT did also.

I am going to install Piers lucas "Prince of Darkness" injectors on saturday morning in my early "91". I have pw injectors installed now like yourself. I will give a good comparison as I have changed nothing else.

I'm a newbie here and was wondering what the cost is (approximate) to replace the injectors in one of these motors? I'm going to modify mine but I want to wait until I have more information before I do. I don't want to create something that I'm going to have to "work on" all the time because I changed something. I'd also like to replace the TC housing with one of the 16cm2 units at the same time. How do I know what is on it now? Is there a number or other markings that I should look for? The guy I bought this truck from is a mechanic and I'd like to be able to identify parts before I go ordering stuff to "hop it up" just in case he changed something and didn't tell me. Thanks, Racer

If your 93 is stock it will have an 18. 5 sq. cm. turbo housing, look on the casting & there will be some #'s. Here are some examples... 3519297 = 21 sq. cm.
3519410, 3522778, = 18. 5 housings
It takes about 2 hours to change out the injectors & about the same to change a turbo housing.

I believe the '89 to early '91 model years came stock from the factory with the 18. 5 cm2 turbine housings, and the later '91. 5 to '93 model years (with factory intercooler) had the larger housings.

89 D-250 LE 5 speed 3. 55 Limited slip, K&N, straight piped, Boost/Pyro. & 16cm2 215K and still going.

89-91. 5 had 18. 5 housings WH1 turbo
91. 5-92 had 21 housings WH1 turbo
93 went back to the 18. 5 WH1 turbo
94-2000 have 12 housings HX35 turbo
2001 ETC have 9 & 10 housings HY35 turbo
2001 ETH have 12 housings HX35 turbo
Hi performance Cummins run the HX40 16 or 18 housings or the H2E with a 17 housing

Piers... What's on a 4BTA and could you use a wastegated 9 or 10 and HX35 turbo, if you BOMB it a bit?

I installed my Lucas injectors on saturday and wow!!! I won't need to look at any more injector ads. These are enough! Can't give good numbers now (boost gauge goes off scale)(30 lb). Pyrometer not hooked up yet and snow on roads makes test drives tricky. One new thing is the Getrag howling in fourth. Never had that before. Smoke not as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely some extra heat present and even visible on coolant gauge - drilling ex manifold for pyro today. And I still have the limiting collar on the main fuel adjustment! Could advance my timing for more power also. Thanks to Piers for doing his homework on the 1st generation trucks!
