Which to Buy

Just a general question while think forward to winter.

I run PS Gray, and I will be running PS White duing the winter. Is there any reason that I shouldn't or couldn't run both during the winter to take advantage of the PS Gray cetane boost in conjunction with the PS White anti-gel properties?

I'm thinking that during the winter I will benefit from the cetane boost more than in the summer, but I will need the anti-gel during the winter. Has anyone run this combination and had any issues with it? I don't want to do anything that will reduce the anti-gel properties of the PS White.

I plan to start plugging in anyway once the overnight temps are consistently 40F or below. Thoughts?

If you can plug in every night and it doesn't get tooo awfully cold you probably don't need the PS white bottle at all.

I uae to throw an old blanket over the engine and plug in on cold nights. Even down to the single digits the engine bay stayed pretty warm. Don't know how well it would work when temps start getting below zero.

We're usually on the beach in Mexico by time it gets that cold!!!

I asked that direct to PS - and they said the Fuel Supplement (White jug) was best for winter because it comtains more anti-gelling additive - the Diesel Kleen (grey jug) has more Cetane boost, less anti-gelling additives.

I run the grey bottle all winter long but then again I'm burning -50f #1 fuel. I saw -56f for a few days last winter & -40 or worse for weeks is normal where I live. My truck stays out all winter long. I do however carry a blow torch & PS emergency additive (red bottle). Never had to use it.

I keep a quart of #2 -15f and #1 -50f in jars sitting outside so I can view the the clouding.

I dont know how you guys up there do it sometimes :)

is it true some people never shut there truck off in the winter, let them idle all the time?

Alarm! Alarm! That's a voided warraty right there! Extended idling is evil as per DC directive 45-248g-00i9!!!!!

Am I reading your post right... D#2 doesn't start to cloud until -15F? I'm a little surprised it's good to that temp.

Around here there are two blends of #2. We have +20f & -15f #2.

As for idleing if its a work truck and your not paying the fuel bill. Otherwise I wouldn't. Plus my neighbors wouldn't appreciate it much. :D
