See my sig below... . Even with my II's before, and now my with my III's, my Autometer Ultralite street series pyro doesn't "shoot up" under WOT like other guys with very similar setups. With the Comp on 5-5, I can't really seem to get it past 1200* no matter what. PNWRadar has basically the same setup as me, but he has the PDR 40 and can still peg his EGT's! I am thinking that my pyro must be malfunctioning... . It seems to be accurate in the lower end, but I am not sure about the upper end.

Any comments/suggestions?

I am so paranoid about this that I think I'm going to order new Isspro EVA EGT and a 60psi boost gauge from Piers... I can peg/wrap around my 35psi Autometer boost gauge by the way, so I definitely need at least a 60psi. How do I really know for sure if my pyro is malfunctioning? I'd like to think that I just have a "cool running" Cummins, but I know that is not the case!

I'm experiencing the same issue. Only I have dd2's. I think I have a fueling issue that would keep me from getting over 1200 degrees even with comp on 5x5. Please let me know what kind of EGT's you get with new gauges.

Thanks,

Charles

Chipstein,

What do you mean "in no time"? Are we talking like 10 seconds or so?

See my update:

**UPDATE**

Well I just got done "messin" with the gauge wires and decided to take take it for a run. I picked a perfect time when there were no cars on the hwy on-ramp, Comp went to 5-5, and I floored it. Needless to say, after about 8 seconds or so, the pyro needle was PASSING 1400* (it maxes out @ 1600*)and I chickened out and backed my foot out of the throttle. I'm sure if I kept my foot in it, it probably would have pegged the gauge! Does 8 seconds seem about the right amount of time to 1400* with my mods? I was expecting it to move as fast as the boost gauge, which is instantaneous, but I guess it takes a little time for the probe to heat up.

I'm not sure exactly what I did to fix it, but it seems like it is working now... Do you guys think so?

I still might get the Isspro EVA's because my Autometer pyro still gets condensation on the inside of the gauge. It has already been sent to Autometer once for a "de-fogging", but obviously whatever they did, did not fix it.

I think the Isspros look better anyway... Decisions, decisions... .

I have the Isspro R630-10 digital. I like it. The only problem is I cannot read it when the sun is shining directly on it. Looks real cool in the dark though. I wish all the digital gages were red/orange. I like the looks better than the SPA gauges, but I have them (wish they came with segmented gas plasma displays). The Dakota gauges come in red, but they warn against it. You might want to check out those gauges too. I have DD3's and with the Comp on 5/5, it doesn't take but seconds to cause the gauge to start flashing. I don't think a few seconds at 1600 will hurt anything, its sustained heat that will cause damage. Towing or hauling up grades, I've never seen it above about 1170 (Comp at 2/1). A good gauge and a responsive left foot should keep temps under control.
