My pyro has gone dead. Last year this same thing happened and the advice was to take apart the connection where the sensor ties to the gauge (is that the thermo-coupling?) and make sure it was dry and reassemble. I did that and it was fine until this spring. I guessed that the high humidity and heavy rains were causing wetness to somehow build at the connection. I took it apart, but this time the gauge still doesn't work.

Pyros work on resistance, right? And you're not supposed to mess with the length of wire going to the gauge, right? What can I check and where? I tried searching the forums, but wasn't getting anywhere. Thanks.

I think the connection they were referring to is the one under the hood about a foot from the manifold, the thermocouple is the part in the manifold. The thermocouple produces milli-volts and the gauge is a voltmeter. I don't think changing the wire length in our application will amount to much change in readings, I've seen guys use 35 feet of additional wire in pusher motor homes with little effect on the readings.

From what I have read the critical length is the wires from the thermocouple to the first connection. From there to the gauge the length is not important. I have had trouble in the past with the first connection. Cleaning it fixed the problem.
