My pyrometer was going in and out for a few weeks, now its totally stopped working. The sensor is in the manifold. Everything looks fine. What is the most likely cause? Thanks.
The guage is an Isspro (is that the sensor too? I don't know very much about it). The truck is a '96 with 80K miles. I bought it in 2000 with 28K miles and it was on there when I got it. I traced the wires and all looks okay. There is a splice with a heat shrink shield that I'm guessing is some sort of thermo coupling, but it seems intact. Like I said it started going in and out for a couple of weeks then just stopped recently.
The splice is under the heat shrink shield you found. It seems like something else because the splices are made with two eye connectors joined with a small screw, somewhat large. Cut the heat shrink off and check it out, most likely the problem is where the wire enters one of the crimp on connectors.
