I have a autometer autolite pyrometer, I want to install preturbo, but looks like i'm seeing in some other threads that this requires a special thermocouple or probe? Is this the case or can I use the one that came with it? Also installing a fp gauge, i've been reading about using a new grease gun hose? what is the purpose of this, vibration isolation? I called a local shop today and they have the autometer restrictor to put in line to keep the spikes from wasting the gauge. Thanks for any info... . one last thing, I havent looked yet, but where is the easiest place to route all the sending lines and wires from the engine comp. to the Apillar? Installing a 3 gauge, FP, egt, and boost on a 99. Thanks again ... . Russ

my autometer pyro didnt need anything special. i havent installed a f/p gauge in mine yet. there is a good sized rubber grommet near the brake booster where i ran all my stuff in. plenty of room. mark

I intially ran an AutoMeter electric FP gauge, but promptly, and I mean promptly, blew out the sending unit. Upon discussion with AutoMeter and (if I remember right) DieselDynamics, they were both not recommending those units because of the "fragile" fuel senders that couldn't handle start-up spikes. Also, to avoid drilling a big hole in the firewall, I initially de-pinned the connector and repinned it when I fed all the wires through the firewall, but ended up undoing it all when I swapped to the Isspro gauge.

The Isspro gauge is all mechanical, right to the gauge, but requires a large hole in the firewall to route the stainless braided line with fittings. It worked out ok, though, because I ran the remainder of the gauge (Boost, EGT) wires through the same hole and wrapped them in many layers of electrical tape at the pass-through. I deburred the firewall hole thoroughly, but didn't want to take a chance.

For gauge wiring, I picked leads off the headlight switch and ran wires up into the A-pillar. From those wires, I tapped in with all my gauges.

Everything works well.
