I've got an Autometer Z-Series pyrometer. Whenever I turn on my lights, it goes dead. Whenever my subwoofer hits, it flickers... .

WTF is going on here?

At night I have to turn all my lights off and my stereo off just so it will read the temps... . so I gotta sit there and squint like an idiot!

And we all know I can't look like an idiot!

I just redid the ground to it so it goes through the firewall and screws right to the fender well, so the ground should be fine. I also checked all the other wiring and everything looks ok.

Any ideas?

Face it... ... ..... you'r truck is possessed. The next time you post a thread, it'll be something like... ... ...

Guys!!! My truck starts great! The only problem I have encountered is the little fact that it... ... .

HAS--- NO--- BATTERY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :--) :--) :--)

I know... I have the goofiest problems with this truck.

Just the other day, while cruising around picking up chicks, I rattled a banjo bolt loose! I had to limp home on 5 cylinder (like 5 miles back) and when I got back the whole engine compartment was covered in diesel. I would have stopped and fixed it, but I didn't have any tools on me! :(

Only you CB, could rattle a banjo bolt loose

:-laf :-laf

Check your ground wire where it is bolted down to the raditor support. From the factory it has paint under it. Sand the paint off and let us know if the problem stops.

I'm learning here, is that smell of diesel an attractant for the fairer sex? Who woudda thunk it? :)

You guys crack me up. I'll check the ground strap. Everything else in my truck is grounding just fine... I don't know what the hell is wrong with this thing.

I switched the ground around, I switched the power source... and still no change. This is making me wonder if there is a problem with the gauge.

I just called Rip Rook, the guy I got these gauges from, and he said to try and ground the pyrometer right to the battery instead of the body.

I'll try that and let you guys know.

I know the scent of diesel doesn't work for attractant to well, only on certain girls, usually you should be running them! alonzo

Your pyro is the most sensitive gage in the truck. It is mae to read voltage in the milivolt range. It do not take much of a bad ground to throw that gage off on its reading. You grounded it to the body. But the other end of the thermocouple is on a engine part. It has a better ground. Remember electric takes the least path of resistance to ground.

Sounds like CB needs to learn to use the back seat of the pickup for its intended use (actually, THAT is a secondary use, besides, the front seat has more wiggle room)- the piling and scattering of junk, such as jumper cables (for that hottie stranded with her hood up on the side of the road), tools (so you can fix stuff on the side of the road), flashlight (you'll never have to do it in the daylight), blanket (self explanatory, isnt it? ;) ), etc. #1 rule for a BOMBaholic- carry thy own tools in truck at all times, as to enable one to repair thine own truck wherever needed, and not embarass oneself while firing on 5 cylinders (whcih brings up another point... ... )

I know daniel... ussualy the area behind my seat is piled up with all kinds of junk, but I put a new BIG sub back there and so I can't have too much stuff piled up. I had all my tools in my room because I was puting together my tach and doing some other stuff...

Ussualy I would have had all that stuff, but of course, the problems always happen the ONE TIME you're not prepared! :D

Ahhhhh..... remember, the way to true HP goodliness is thru abstinence... . are you guys buyin this one... ... ;):D:D

C_B you need to... ... ... . ahhhh heck, never mind... :D

Oh, by the way,... is it hdm48 that is gonna do your porting stuff... . ???... . if it is, just remember that he is best at port-'O-potty'ing... or was that nascar mark... .

PB

Dave is definately doing my porting work. He's a great guy and I had the privilege if meeting him in person two weekends ago. Dave's awesome! :D

The connection on the back of my pyro was not 100% so every now and then I had to wack it (the guage!!!) or twist it.

I know I'm going to regret this reply.
