I would like to hear more on this product? I read what illflem had to say it was very good but would like to hear more from anyone else ot there who has this product on their truck. I want the facts no hype. #ad

20 FAN. . you will see many for and many against. .
The main issue is the K&N RE0880 filter. read the archives, many threads on this subject. .
I for one am for the PSA. .
I see slower EGT temps under hard peddle. . still see over max do to the fact I need the HX40. .
I have ridden in Scotty's truck and see the same set up I'm running [only he has the HX40] with temps under control and he is pulling a large 5er

Irresponsible though it may be, while going from Las Vegas (home) to Caliente,NV to get a Christmas tree (we cut our own-charming,eh?) the truck, passengers, and illegal $50 trailer probably grossed about 9300lb. There are a couple of short places (1/4-1/2 mile) on I-15 and US93 where the road gets quite steep (as highways go) possibly 8-10%. Not for long enough to justify a road-sign, but definitely there. Ambient temp was like, 40-50*F. Going up there, at 90+mph (closer to 100mph figuring in for tire diameter) my post-turbo temps never got past 900*F--just into the yellow zone on my ISSPRO pyrometer,at about 30PSI---If you can approximate the load, speed, slope-grade of the road, and PSI of boost, without the PSA I'd be pretty surprised if your temps stay in the same range. If your temps do stay that nice, you don't need a PSA. I bet you do. (lest ye suspect that I made the whole run that way #ad
, relax, I actually spent more time at about 60-80 and 400-700*F)---happy clattering --rich

mildly BOMBed 98. 4 1B7KF23D4WJxxxxxx-- BD's #5 plate and 210HP injectors--BD Brake and the associated transmission bomb goodies (except for TC,currently), 4" open exhaust (short),Psychotty, camper shell, Warn front receiver, G159Unisteels on Rickson 19. 5's. . CD player is bone stock, so are the seats. PrimeLoc, also remote spin-on filter for the auto trans... Pyro,Boost and Trans temp from Isspro,
Westin nerf rails(black),
bent welding rod to hang celphone on dashboard...
240HP on Dynojet from 75-105mph drumspeed.

I have it and love it,will never go back to the stock box. You will see lower EGT temps with it,and better turbo spool up compared to a stock box. No problems at all with water or snow getting in there. The only thing I have to caution you is noise... you will get a bit louder turbo sound with the Psycotty compared to a stock truck. I only mention the noise because some folks don't like more noise than what a stock truck makes.

Some like it(me) some don't. It does lower EGT alot when towing and pushing realy hard. It seals lot better than the stock filter housing. If you are bombed alot it is almost a must to keep EGT in check.

The noise level for me is really about the same until high boost. If you want better fuel economy it's best to keep the boost down anyways, with the Pyscotty you can hear the increased boost, this gives you an audible warning when to back off for better mpgs, but that's no fun is it?

2 Questions:

The increased noise everyone is talking about, is this with or without the silencer ring? If it is without, the ring could obviously be reinstalled to reduce some of the noise. Also, how does this noise compare to the stock setup with the ring removed? Is the noise apparent when cruising down the highway at normal speeds?

I am not a fan of reusable oil filters. Sure they may flow more, but I'm concerned about putting too much oil on or not enough. Could somebody give me some input to convince me otherwise? I like the idea of the Scotty unit, but I'd rather not mess with reusable filters.

My silencer ring is in. The noise is louder with the PSA and silencer ring than stock box without silencer ring.

-Mike

You'd have to be a gluten for punishment to run the PSA with the ring removed.
I've had no trouble with an air box or 0880 K&N filters passing dust or oil. I think most problems stem from improper installation, damaged filters or over-oiling. In fact while changing oil yesterday I removed the airbox and tube to the turbo to gain access to the oil filter,no dust or oil on the turbo or tube. Filter minder hadn't moved at all,now here's the kicker-I haven't opened the lid to the airbox even once in 45k! I will clean and re-oil the K&N at my next oil change though,50k seems like a reasonable service interval.

BTW,I heard that Scott was looking into paper filters for the PSA for the folks that don't like the oiled ones.

I tried to call the number for TOYS-4U. I got a recording that said the number was no longer in service. So how do you order or get some questions answered.

I want to use this but I don't trust someone that I have no way to get ahold of. If I can't see them in person then I would want to talk to them by phone.

20 Fan. .
Scott is in Texas for the winter. . use the E-mail feature on his site. . he'll get back to ya. . or order thru Diesel Dynamics in Vegas or I think that HVAC also has them. .
