I'm considering ordering a new 3500 QC Laramie 4x4. However we are little confused regarding interior layouts. We want leather, but are unsure what the center console will look like with either the 40-20-40 or the buckets. Anybody got any pictures of their interiors? There seems to be a different center console with Electronic shift on fly or manual, and possibly automatic vs 6 speed (we are getting an auto).

The other question: I really hate the Laramie Front Bumper. I'd prefer the full chrome, or even the solid sport plastic over the split look. Can I order the SLT Chrome bumper on the Laramie?

I can't help ya with the interior, but I can tell that your stuck with the Laramie bumper unless you order the SLT or Sport. I helped a friend order an 06, he really wanted a sport w/ Laramie interior, which is what my 05 is. Well they changed things a lot, Sport package was a package you could add to anything, now it's a seperate trim level. You could always sell the laramie bumper and buy a SLT or sport bumper.

Good luck,

Jay

JThiessen go to http://www.dodge.com/home_flash.html and do a build and price. It will let you look at the interiors any way you want. I just ordered a Laramie QC yesterday and asked the same question about the front bumper, no can do. Also sat in a truck with the buckets and console, didn't care for it, jmho.

My Laramie "H" with manual and elec shift on the fly 4X4 has the cup holder/organizer on the floor it was a real nice surprise when she came in. The fold out cup holders are not as steady while under way and tend to rattle.

Obviously you'll have the fold out if you get the auto. But the auto with elec shift on the fly (comes standard with the "H") will give allot of leg room for someone sitting in the front middle.

Mac

macdaddy, I have same floor console as you, that thing is the BOMB... . only one I know that will hold TWO 44oz cups from 7-11 Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

I dont think that's true. I sat in an auto yesterday that did not have a fold out. It was a Laramie Auto with buckets (and electric shift). I have seen pictures of some that do still have the fold down - but is that only in an ST or SLT trim level? And there appears to be two different versions of the tray - one for buckets and one for the 40-20-40. From what I've seen, all Laramies come with the tray on the floor. Thus, getting the bench really doesnt make any sense since there wouldnt be room for someones feet there.

Personally, given the way Dodge built fold downs (cupholders, ashtrays) its a good thing for them to STOP NOW! THe ones in my 03 didnt last more than 3 months before the latches broke.

I ahve done the build on the Dodge site - but the pictures they give didnt really answer my questions.

I kinda figured that about the bumper. I look at it, and just cant figure out why they would do something so cheesy (looks like it should be on a Nissan or something), especially on the Highest "grade" rig they sell. Nothing classy looking about that half plastic half chrome.

I think if you get auto and elec. shift you get the fold out cup holder with the 40-20-40 seating. I have a Laramie with Buckets auto, elc. shift, it has a console that is raised up considerbly over the 03 floor mounted cup holders. I really like the bucket seat setup , no one ever sat in middle of my last 3, 40-20-40's any how.

I agree with not needing the middle seat. I have to go sit in a couple to see if the buckets are narrower. I noticed that the center console compartments got smaller since 03. I wonder why - the seats didnt seem wider.

SO the truck I sat in was a laramie megacab with electronic and buckets and it had the floor mounted. Otherwise I would agree with you tpicard. I'm just trying to figure out the logic here

I drove a QC with the buckets about two weeks ago. I liked it, it didn't hit your leg like a car would so that was nice. The arm rest was the right height. those were the good points. Heres the bad ones. one the storage space is considerablly less then the 60/40. I didn't care for the fake looking top plastic surface (it was the sport addition) the laraime looked nicer with the fake burlwood. It is the hardest thing to decide on the new truck that I am going to order buckets or split.

hi i went through the same dilema when ordering my 06 a few weeks ago. i went with the 60/40 center consol type. i looked at the buckets but i really like all the storage space with the standard 60/40. plus my 03 larmine, and 95 slt all had the same seat configuration, its really hard to beat,in my opinion. good luck, joe.

Joe, so have you noticed a steady decrease in seat comfort? I also have had the split bench in all three of my Rams, wiht the '99 laramie leather bench being the most comfortable, and my 03 has by far the worst. The seats have gotten shorter in length - making them uncomfortable for longer trips (especially for those us with longer legs). They have also gotten narrower.

The reduction in storage space with the buckets isnt really high on my list of items that matter - I'm more concerned with functionality of things like how the cup holders work (probably my most used item!), butt comfort (drive 16+ hr days a couple itmes a year), etc.
