After a trip back from Tahoe I notice some white residue trailing back from the top forward corners of mf rear doors. Upon further examination I noticed the forward corners of the rear doors have rubbing against the top rear corners of the front doors. Enough to wear it to bare metal. There is adequate gap when the truck is not moving but I have yet to find a volunteer to hang on to the outside on bumpy roads. Anyone else notice this? It goes in tomorrow (today) for a few other things. We'll see what 5 star has to say.

DRT,

My passenger side doors don't close properly unless I close the rear door pretty hard. It was delivered that way. I am not sure if I want the dealer to adjust the doors or if I am going to adjust them myself. I am not happy with the body panel fit in general.

Dave, My passenger door is the same way. If my wife shuts it I have to stop and close it hard as it will rattle going over bumps.

I haven't seen a problem with my '99 for all the doors close just fine, but certainly feel this is not a normal situation. Let us know what your 5 star does about it. Dave

Just dropped it off. The ol' deer in the headlights look from everyone that looked at it. They did not say much--heard some muttering about adjustment. They couldn't believe that the truck would flex enough under normal driving to allow the doors to rub. They tried to get the doors to rub in that area by closing them at the same time---didn't work. No excuses. No hassles. Very nice. Took it in and said they would call. We'll see.

My truck closes fine, and I havent noticed any wear.
On the passenger side, I do have the little plastic vent on the bottom corner of the door that falls out often while closing the back door. I'd say it pops out about 40-50% of the time.
I dont think it's a big deal, I just dont want to close it in a parking lot and not see it fall out, or run it over.
Eric

Did I read the TSB wrong or does if fail to address the problem of the doors not being properly aligned? It looks like they just want to apply door edge guards where the doors make contact so the paint won't chip in the future. My door alignment is pretty poor, when you pass another vehicle, especially when it is wet out, you would swear the window(s) are open. I may have the dealer take a look at it, I am afraid the alignment will be worse after the adjustment.

Grady--that TSB covers the solution, but I KNOW I don't close both doors at the same time. They rub during driving and that is what perplexes me. Although DC will probably say it happend by me closing them at the same time. Thanks for the TSB.

I have a dark mark (streak) along the inside area at the top of each of the front doors. It appears from the way it lines up when you close the doors, that the very top piece of the back door seals (where the two doors touch each other) is made of a different type of rubber. I would assume that if that is where your paint is worn that the harder rubber of the gasket may be the culprit. Mine may eventually wear through also.

Just picked it up. Had many little things addressed. The door "repair" was some touch up paint that almost matched. They almost touched up all the spots. The provided excuse---if you do not close the doors all the way, they may hit. Nothing about the TSB. Certainly not the repair the TSB details. I complained about the infamous wandering steering. They replaced my damper--said there was an oil leak. Probably from the 1/2 quart of oil the service tech spilled in my engine compartment and on my suspension a few days earlier. The thing still wanders. They fixed the e brake squeek, missed the steering column rubbing somewhere on the firewall noise, and repaired a factory paint defect. Not too impressed.

Had the same trouble with mine when it was new. Driver side only. Pass side worked fine. Got so I carried touchup paint & sand paper with me so I could clean it up every couple of weeks. Had the TSB done. That didn't fix it. Dealer said it couldn't be fixed. Finally found a dealer in Maryland who took it to a local body shop for re-alignment of the doors. Problem fixed. You need a competent body man to check it for you.

I flex the bejesus out of this truck and the quad doors never rub. I concur with the above -- you need a good body shop to realign the doors for you.

My 99 is at 35K also. Very hard miles on mine. Last warranty visit coming up this week... .

Passenger door has rubbed since new, also tough to close with the windows closed. (weird, no problem with a window open)

Steering pump squeals like hell when cold.
Check engine light every now and then, seems to go away with fuel additive.
At -10F the truck sounds like a string of poorly matched grenades going off inside the engine. This despite amsoil in the engine. (usually try to preheat with ESPAR)
Batteries seem to be challenged holding a charge, have had to get several jumps recently.

Steers straight, Brakes straight, Goes like hell when I am not slipping the OEM clutch, Loves snow (once I installed the traction bars).

Love the beast, just would like perfection to last until I finishing paying for it... .

Just noticed that both of the front doors on my 99 Quad Cab have rubbed metal on the latch mechanism of the rear door. They close fine and fit well on the outside... just wondering if anyone else had this problem?
