I am looking to install a switch to turn off the airbag on the pass. side of my new 06 QC. I am wondering if any one has any done this yet or may have some info on it. My main concern is with the new electronic protocol that the 06 has. It was only about a 5 min. process doing this with my 04. 5.

There is already a factory connector in place for the switch on that side. All you need to do is buy the switch and the little plastic bezel with a hole in it and plug it in. Here's a thread about it.

Ryan, I have done this also too my 04. 5. I am now interested in doing the same thing to my 06. Maybe I did not state that, oooops. :-laf I am just wondering if the 06's with the new computer protocol are able to have the DRBII hooked up and turn the electronic switch on inside the brain. I have the PN's and prices for the pieces already, just do not want to buy them yet until I know this can be done.

Buy the way, are you still looking for that little panel? I still have the one from my 04. 5.

The 06 does not use the drb,it uses the starscan. I have not looked for the pass airbag sw enable on the 06. Yet. I will try to remember to ck it out one of these days when I get some time.

Bob, thanks for the reply. I was wondering if the change with the 06's electronic's might call for new equipment on the dealers end also.

Wow, I must be the first one that has thought of doing this on the 06. :D I guess if I ever get it fingered out I will post a good write up on doing it.

phloop - don't need the little plastic piece anymore. I bought one from Dodge a long time ago for like $5. Didn't realize you were talking about the 06... whole different beast. Have you already verified that the pigtail is there behind the dash? If so, I'd be willing to bet it can be enabled. But that's just a guess (and I'm a bad guesser).

Ryan, no I have not yet verified that the pigtail is behind the dash as my truck is still somewhere on a rail car in Illinois on it's way home. :)

I am assuming that it will be there. I do not think dodge in this day and age would make three different wiring harnesses, as they have the standard cab, the quad cab, and now the mega cab.

But.....

And on edit, The post was a just a tad bit old. Thought I would ask any ways. Kinda figured you had already found one.

I have done this except for crawling under the dash looking for a plug to be able to plug the switch into. I even have the part numbers for the parts.

As for crawling under the dash, I almost think the dash will have too come apart to find the plug as I think it will be in a place where you will not be able too see it from under the dash.

Depending on what center console the truck has it can be a pain to access that part of the dash. For some reason they hid 2 screws that aren't needed in the first place.
