I have seen a couple of these after market conversions heading down the road. I love my 98 and with a growing family have thought about possibly going this route. They look very good and Dodge is the only option for a p/u for me.

Does anyone know anything about these?

Also does anyone know if Dodge plans to offer a full crew cab in the future?

Thanks!

$15K to start, that is pretty much standard items all the way taking a quad cab and making it a full REAL crew cab with the quad area left behind the back seat. If you get fancy it goes up from there.

I looked into it for about 10 seconds into the phone call to Bayer, I called one other limo company and they were higher yet.

Nuff said! I would buy a Ford crew cab and convert it ot a cummins way before I considered this.

Well that about caps that!

I was thinking somewhat less than $10k would be o. k. But. . I think I will explore and dream for awhile. Maybe in the mean time Dodge think about going bigger. Ford & GM are not an option in my book.

Thanks for the information!

Guys, make the phone calls and emails. With the economy the way it is and people sitting tight on their wallets you might get a deal. It would be less than $8K before I would not just move over into a Ford personally. When the PSD died (250K miles later easily) I would consider a Cummins in it.

I've had "Modern Marvels" on the History Channel on while perusing these Forums. The story was about trucks & how we modify them. They had a segment profiling Mark Bayer & his company. They stated that the average CC conversion ran from 12 to 15 k. They showed a nice Ram Crew Cab with the "suicide" doors behind the rear full doors- sweet!

Talked to Bayerautoinc today. They quoted me $11,700 for complete conversion to true crew cab. I was very impressed with them and they were very informative. Keep an eye out on the History channel for a story on them.

I'll say this for those interested in Bayer and their work. if you ever get a chance to see Loretta Mitchell's conversion truck it is absoulutely a piece of artwork. You would never know this was not a original factory job. The leg room in the rear is amazing and is easy to enter and exit. The only thing she was bummed out about when she showed it to me was that it could not do sled pulls anymore due to it being to heavy for the class she used to pull in. Very nice truck though indeed.

When I was at the July Chryslers at Carlisle show this year there was a gentleman there who had a 2001 dually 4x4 Quad that was done by Bayer. However he did something different than most, his was done as a crew cab/quad cab. Yes thats right,4 full dorrs and the fully functional quad cab doors also. you want to talk about long, sheesh what a ride... ... ..... Andy

I have seen a true crew 2nd gen around Charlotte, NC a couple times. It's a metallic blue dually and man does it look bada$$!!! looks to be done VERY clean. unfortunately I haven't seen him sitting still to ask questions about it. when I do, I'll give an update.

Had to have my '02 worked on today at dealer ( lift pump) and was talking to the sales manager. Sales manager told me that Dodge will be out with a 4500 & 5500 series in the 05 model year. I questioned him a little on this and he showed me the memo from D/C to the dealers stating this. There wasn't much more info except that it will have the Cummins and that the cab will have a slightly larger cab. I'm hoping this is true in that I was going to look at the sport chassis from both freightliner and sterling. Anyone else heard this?

One in the area

There is a white/red 3500 dually up here in the area that is a crew cab. Looks pretty long, the rear cab is probably the same length as the front half. I haven't seen him stopped, only a few times passing him the other direction. Pretty nice!

When the 94 body style came out there was a Red or white (cant remember) 3500 4 door crew cab with an extended cab behind that running around here in Greeley. Really sweet setup!! The guys owns a whole bunch of car wash stations around here, I guess I am in the wrong business!! I dont know if he still has it now.

Ive been waiting for dodge to do this. I will buy the 1st one off the assembly line when they do it. But it cant be a bigger durango & it has to rattle ;)

If DC really wanted Dodge to be profitable, they'd quit building the little $hitbox cars & make nothing but trucks. That way, they'd have the capacity to build Crew Cabs, Ramburbans, 4500 & 5500's etc. They'd sell every one they could build. Leave the cars to Chrysler.
