I have a 2003 QC SB 3500 SRW 4x4. . HO / 48RE..... I am considering selling and upgrading to an early 2007 Mega cab BEFORE the emissions heavy 6. 7 Cummins arrives..... (Recomendation from friend to get 5. 9)... Anyways, anyone have any regrets of going to the Mega. I could also buy out my lease and just keep the 2003. I have a 14 yr old son, 11 yr old daughter, and a 17 month old daughter. so the extra room may be helpfull. .

Thanks in advance... .

I don't have the Mega Cab, but my regret would be the shorter bed length since that is why I went with the Quad Cab. If you don't use your bed, then the extra room of the Mega Cab is nice.

I pull a 40' Gooseneck trailer, but I spent the extra $$$ on a Featherlite in part for the tapered nose. . My current truck pulls it good... .

Since you are already driving a short box anyway, then going to a mega cab just means that you getting a longer truck. For those of us with a long box, then the change would be more severe.

I went from a Clubcab to a Mega. Love the extra room. I miss the longbed. However, I use the cab room everyday. To date it would've been nice to have the longbed two times.

mega cab

I had a 2004 QC i loved that truck. But in march i sold it in and bought a

new mega cab. And i have no regrets at all. The room is great the ride is nice.

I am very pleased with the truck. :-laf

Ditto, love the extra cab room. 2 labs and my daughter can ride back there and nobody is in each others "SPACE" :D Only problem I have found is I seem to hit the trailer hitch on the ball of the trailer every time I hook up. Must be that the rear bumper is 20" closer to the trailer than I am used to!!!! :-laf :-laf

I love the extra room, but miss the long box. You can't put much of a tool box in the short box bed. I think the extra room in the cab is a good trade off though. besides if I need a truck with the long I just go drive one of my Quadcabs. :-laf

Lawdog,

I went from a 1500 QC to a 2500 Mega Cab. I love it. It sounds like you may be in the same situation I am... I haul more people and gear than anything. The Mega Cab is perfect for that and very nice on trips. Yes, you lose some space in the bed, but I have a trailer for all the big stuff. Backing a trailer with this beast can be a pain (the extra cab space makes it harder to see a flatbed). Test drive one, I think you will like it!

I think it's Bayer Automotive that will stretch your Mega-Cab to a long bed for less than $4k, including the new painted to match long-bed.

Thanks for the replies... ... . The long bed is no big deal to me, as I have always had short beds... . The trailer hauls all the extra stuff, so the cab room is the biggest reason... otherwise I would keep my 03. . thanks again... ..... Now... What color. . black or black... ... . Hmmmm Thought white with a matching green stripe to match trailer, but my last 5 Rams have ALL been Black... ... .

A white vehicle in your neck of the woods to me is a no no. Any little rust spot can be seen from a mile away.

RankRam. . the graphite looks good... ...

Tramplineman... I agree about the white... It drives me nuts looking at the trailer with all the little rust looking specs on the rear door... . I wanted a black trailer but the extra time and $$$$$ to order made the white one a better choice... ... Also the white doesn't look as bad when we get into some salty roads going racing when I can't wash it before going to the track... . Plus white has better re-sale if I want to sell it ever.....

I sold a 03 Qcab long bed and ordered a mega cab short. On my old trucks always put a wheatherguard tool box across the bed, witch really cuts it down to about a 6' bed. So with out a choice I went with the mega with out tool box.

its funny how life changes what you drive and model that you need.

In my single days had a 96 reg cab, then met my wife now started to go places needed more room. bought a 98. 5 Qcab. Then the kids came bought a 03 real Q cab. now there is 2 sucklings who kick the hell out of the back of my 03s front seats. and here we are today with a 06 mega on order. The only thing that stayed the same was the diesel engine in them. :-laf
