quad headlights

I recently finished installing quad headlamps in our 97 and 98 trucks and the results were excellent. Finally I can see at night, it's like having European-spec lights again.
That's 110W total on high beam, well focused unlike the stock ones.
Why didn't DC do this on all trucks for safety?

Was this a hard retorfit? How much did it cost? How long did it take to do? How did you do it. I talked to my local parts manager who I am really friendly with and he told he did not know of anyone doing it yet. I was interested, so he was going to look into it for me. I have a 96 2500. The starting point was a TDR article. If you search this site you will find a thread where I posted the part numbers.
The parts were around $300 per truck.
You will need a sawzall or similar to cut the body behind the headlamps, and also the headlamp carriers on pre 99 trucks. The existing 9004 bulbs plug into the inner quad sockets, while new 9007 bulbs and wiring are required for the outer sockets. I used a NAPA type AR143 relay to drive the new bulbs from the aux battery, the coil was energized from the stock main beam wiring. This way, the headlamp switch is not overloaded.
Basically I have duplicated the way Dodge did it in the Sport truck.
It is worth the effort.
