Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) APS Problems

I just picked up my commander this evening and just did a quick install (basically i have everything but my FP hooked up at this point but none of the wires hidden real well) I just wanted to see it work on the way home, what can i say im too antsy and impatient. . lol. The whole while I still have all of my mechanical guages hooked up (did that on purpose to cross check the accuracy of the commander) and I did notice a few discrepencies. For one my boost is SLOW (on the commander) which I kind of expected and doesnt seem to read as high as my mechanical. Also when just cruising and the mechanical is sitting at 7-9lbs the commander is only showing 1-3lbs. ????? Second is the egt's while they seem to be keeping up fairly well they too seem to be low never breaking 1000* but my mechanical will show 1200 +/- a few, also when I stopped at the house and went to let the truck cool down it was already reading 275* when the mechancial was still reading 400*. So I am just a little confused as to why it does this, i figured the boost sensor would be a little off and a little slow on account that it's reading off of the map sensor, but the egt's are running straight from the manifold itself so it should be more inline with the mechanical I would think. So has anyone else tried this commander and what were your findings?

I hooked mine up today also and have noticed low "cruising boost" 1-2 lbs. My biggest concern now is the screen resolution. Does yours look like this (scroll down to my post at the bottom)?

As far as the resolution mine doesnt look like that at all. . I am very pleased with the look and resolution of mine. HOWever... after going out to the truck this evening once the sun went down I noticed that the guage is still on. Is that normal? Meaning that it still has the light on. I can't have that. hopefully there is a setting that turns it off when the truck is off.

It should power down when the ignition is turned off... provided you tapped the right fuse. On my 06 it is fuse #28, not sure on the 2nd gens though.

ok i have to make an update. i went back out to the truck and checked the fuse. It was hooked to number 14 which is what my book says that came with my commander. But i changed it to no. 17 and now it powers down with the ignition and comes back on without losing anything.

Some of the units are sent out with instructions for the wrong fuse.

On boost numbers, remeber that you are only readin what teh stock sensor is reading. If you think there is a dicrepency there, try running a boost gauge before and after the intercooler.

well i played with a little this afternoon... i guess it helps if you actually go through the setup on it. the boost seems alitlle closer than last night, the egts had to be calibrated, so now with all that a think im good. so far i am pleased, but if any of you have one in aecond gen i would love to see some pics of where you mounted it tje more hidden the better cause i dont like to advertise my truck having thing in it anymore... lol
