Today I installed a quadzilla Recon monitor and need a little help..... I have never monitored anything, so I don't know what to expect. Granted, I haven;t pulled anything yet, but i have to climb a hill in too high of a gear for any boost to register. Is this right? Also, my egt's seem low. (Once again, empty and putz'n around town. )

One more thing, I think the fuel pressure sender is toast. It registers between 1 and 2 psi, idle or throttle. It is brand new and I have been on the phone with Quad. and they are sending me another. It is the same one that they send out for the Commander, and I was hoping someone else had a similar problem and could offer advice????

Fuel press at idle should be 14-16. 12-14 cruising and probably no less than 10 at wot. Your pump sounds weak, change it and add a pusher pump, or look in to all the different fuel kits... ... relocation or new system all together.

You should not really be able to hit more than about 1100 or so egt wise standing on it since you only have that hypertech. the sweet spot for mileage seems to be around 5psi of boost and 600 or so egt wise on level ground. Going up hills and such you should see an increase in temps and boost.

I run 15psi at idle 14 cruising and 12. 5-13psi, balls out on the floor. Cruisin town I run maybe 450-500ish and 600-650 down the highway egt wise. I can also hit 1500. Except I have a bigger spinny thing that whistles, more go fast juice, and sometimes it can scare me when the smoke starts pouring out and the tires melt... ... ... ... .....:eek::-laf:-laf:D

On the vehicle ID menu did you select the correct year model truck that you installe it in?

This should be an ID of 0-10. It should give you a reference in the installation papers.

Ya. I have it set up right. It is just not working. I also had to pay $20 for the replacement until I send the bad one back. AND pay for the return shipping. I am not liking quadzilla too much right now... ...

Update:

the replacement sending unit came today. Still nothing. I am sending it back so they can bench test it for me. They are sticking me with shipping for the POS and eating up my time and labor. Any other ideas besides qzilla? Barring a miracle of customer service on their behalf, I am finished with these guys.

Chill out... those guys are good at what they do. I would bet in short time you'll have what you want... just give'em a chance. There are thousands of those devices out there working just fine.

Also, as for my hobby of tricking my truck... . there is no labor charge... it's an act of love old boy. If I didn't love it so much I wouldn't do it.

I hear ya... but I enjoy playing in it more than working on it. It is irritating sometimes.....

I am in a business where customer service is a must. Sometimes stuff happens, I know, but I got no offer of free shipping, or even compensation. EVEN after I suggested it. I paid the same amount as those people whos products worked the first time..... and now I am paying more... ... .....

Besides my job, I am also a full time student and have very little time hualing up and down the road in my CTD watching all the gadgets and lights! When I do get time I'd rather not spending it RE-installing something.

Venting complete... . (for now!)

I just had to send back a new Quadzilla XZT+. It threw a code 0237 (low boost) along with the CEL. Finally got the codes removed and have sent the XZT+ back to Thoroughbred Diesel where it was purchased. Called Quad and we tried some fixes before returning it but nothing worked. . so it was sent back and a new one is on the way.

The shipping costs and wait are a pain but both Quad and Thoroughbred were pretty good to work with. . we just couldn't get that unit to work on my rig.

I did learn a few things going through all this:

A. With the MAP sensor un-plugged (that's what the system saw with the XZT+ hooked up) the truck runs but at something like half power. If my grandkids ever ask to borrow the Dodge I'm pulling the MAP connector. They'll hate driving a P/U with about 100hp/250 ft lbs torque.

B. i couldn't get rid of that code #0237 for anything. I have a Scangauge II on the truck but it just couldn't shake that code. I pulled the battery ground cable and let it sit for 10hrs while at work. Got back in the truck and ran Scangauge and BINGO. . cleared that damn code.

Anyway, hang in there. I'm sure quad will help you figure out the problem. You may find there's actually something wrong with your rig that's been hiding all this time.

I am counting on them making good on this deal. As for my CTD hiding problems... I sure hope not!!! 0 psi fuel pressure might be a bad thing?!?! The other functions worked as far as I know. My egt's and boost were always lower than the other guys on here but as stated before, I don't get time to have near as much fun driving and pulling as I would like. It's just that doggone fuel psi issue on the quadzilla.

OKAY!!! Something is going on here... . I got a new unit from QZilla and installed it today. (Same wiring harness, new gauge. ) I set it properly to read engine code 01 and set it to read fuel press. Now my egt's are reading higher than before and the fuel press. is still reading a solid 0 with no movement. WHAT THE HELL??? How can I manually check my fuel press. so I can get a reading of what it really is?

Qzilla is closed today so I can't talk to them... . If you are reading please reply!!

Hang in their... I have a Quadzilla XZT or something like that, on my truck, I like the way it worked but had to unplug it the other day due to weird noise when at idle coasting with a automatic truck. I had it stacked with a SMARTY, set in non timing programs, and sounded like the injector pump was humming a different tune than normal. Now I'm just running my SMARTY and all sounds well; checked for codes and none present. I hope it was just a poor connection and not a sign of a failing VP; next step is to get a stealth pump cover to eliminate poor connectivity.

I think you need to consider an after market lift pump since our year of trucks has a known issue with them. Second: you need to take into account the fact that you live at higher altitude then most other members on this site, so don't expect to get the same EGT's and boost numbers they do. I was living in Lander, now on the East side of state, but my EGT's run between 800 to 900 with about 6 lbs boost going down the interstate at 80 mph emply. I have had my truck checked for boost leaks, turbo issues, and sensor failure, etc... Every shop tells me my truck is running fine with no problems even though I think my EGT's are high (pre turbo). Just my thoughts but be careful what sticks you run and chip you run because elevation is the killer for the diesel.

Thanks GM. Do you know how I can test my fuel pressure? There is that schrader valve looking thing that I took off to install the sending unit from qzilla. Is there something I can plug into that? there is no freaking way i have 0 psi is there?

The best I could guess is call the Quadzilla guys and ask about testing your fuel pressure and how. There are many TDR members who could tell you how to check your fuel pressure, sorry I'm not one of them. I installed the FASS fuel system so I wouldn't have your problem. Just wanted to chime in and let you know that our trucks in this elevation will display different temps and run very different than other trucks at sea level. Sorry I couldn't help you more with this problem, hope you find the help you need.
