The MIL has gone out so there is no more active codes. The engine did sound horrible with the box plugged in, I hope that nothing was damaged in the few seconds it ran like that?

Not sure what you mean by "Cummins software"? Was this the wrong board with the right software or the wrong software in the right board? Not that it matters much, just curious. What model engine was the software for??

Anyways, looking forward to getting the new box and seeing what it does. :)

It is not really the wrong board, it is just the wrong piece for that wiring harness. It is the older version board that we use for some other products and not the Cummins anymore. It works fine when it is coupled with the right pinout on the wiring harness.

We were bound to make a mistake at some point. When you shop thousands of them there will be a human error somewhere. I am sorry it was you, you should have the new one in the morning.

Quad,

Got the new box tonight and installed it. All is well! Oo.

Truck runs like a top and the switch works great. Just getting used to the new power. The old box is boxed up and I should have it to UPS tomorrow. Thanks again. :)

The idle changing is not timing. It was once thought to be part of the problem, but we do not advance timing at idle anymore. This has been frustrating to work on because it is not on every truck. SOme trucks do it and other do not do it at all. My truck does it when it is cold, but once it is warm then it is gone completely.

Quad

Hi Quad, I too only notice the loping when it is cold and it does go away as soon as it has warmed up a little. But I do occasionally hear a tiny miss at an idle, if I turn the box off it is gone. I consider these just minor annoyances with a otherwise great smooth power module.

my dad is looking to get the 140 version quad box with his stock 48 re hold? will it hold with no trailer on flat ground. he wants the power for passing and 65-85mph blasts? he does not want it for street racing or 1/4 mile or 0-60.

that should be around 400hp to the rear wheels, It would hold on the street, but not for towing. . IMO

tow only box

Recieved my 65 hp box last night and after reading these threads am glad it is not adjustable. I know I would always have it on kill. I have beem a drag racer for at least 200 years and this was just way to easy, even Ray Charles could put this box on in 15 minutes (no offense to Mr Charles). My problem was I could not find the plug for the data port so I read the instuctions again and it said I was a dummy, this box does not use it!!! :-laf. I had my local dealer do the tsb for reflash of ecm and was surprised at the difference that made. Now this box makes way more power and is silky smooth, cannot wait till I hook the 5vr up and do a test run. And to think all this time I thought smokers were for Semi's

Finally, some one bought the towing chip!

Can you give me a brief outlook on the power? Does it have a good pull on the lower RPMs?

I too am afraid of having that extra power adjustment urge with my 48RE (03. 5 HO). Just want more power for towing and faster/harder acceleration at take off and passing.

Thanks.

As DLeno said I am 1 old dude and I cannot believe I finally found a product that does what it is advertised to do. I also have a auto and don't relish doing a trans overhaul anytime soon. My toyhauler comes in at 13500 ish depending on the water load so I didn't want to be pulling with 140hp but I know this old drag guy would have to try it. When I backed out of the garage I knew I had a winner! I would have to boost to about 10lbs to get the tires to bark now i just mat it. If I did 10lbs it would blow them off. The biggest suprise to me is it is so driveable. Not at all liked a supercharged unit that is either on or off. It will hit the wastegate in about 3 or 4 sec and then sit at about 33 or 34 lbs and just pull like a b****. :--) Have not had the trailer on yet but will probably do that next weekend. I will be happy to answer any more questions as I am in LOVE.

Fred.

2004. 5 3500quad srwlb slt+ python gauges pillermount westin nerf. Happy camper

well you said you had been drag racing for 200 years :D. good to see a refreshingly practical approach to power enhancements. and it looks like Quad hit the mark on this one, too!

Alright another "OLD" Happy camper. I'm really enjoying mine also have the adjustable box and tow a 9800 pound toy hauler deeeeeluxe. brother is ordering one as well as a good fiend of mine who is older than me about as old as dirt I think. I must not be too old as I am still always looking for more power got the bomb bug I guess. Had a lot of hot rods over the decades as well and thought I was past all this untill I bought this cummins pick-up! too much fun, love it! Congrats!!

Fred,

So it will pull off the line ALOT harder? Alot better throttle response?

Also have you been on the highway and gotten on it?

Also any EGT readings yet?

Thanks again!

Yes it pulls from 0 to 100 no lag no drop the tach goes to 3000 and sits there the trans shifts very smoothly (post remap of ecm) and it was still pulling at 100 mph about 2900 in 3rd w converter locked. egt shows 1000 at that rpm but my pyro is after the turbo in the elbow. Big difference is boost. Pre box was 35 dropping to 32 now it is 42 dropping to 40. Had a 1500 hemi that wanted to play yesterday, he had me for maybe a truck length then it was all diesel. If I had power braked it it would have been no contest. mpg is hard to tell but prebox in town was 13 or so and even with all the fun I am having puter shows 15. 5. Looks like quad is right on with there ads Oo. Life is good!

Fred

I watched an '03 305/555 on the dyno with a super B and a 140 Quad box. He did at least 3 pulls, then two 1/4 mile runs (on a Mustang Dyno). His truck with 60k+ on it had zero clutch problems. It held.

Now another guy with his 30k mi CA SO and TST slipped hard on 8/5, but held on 5/5.
