My first year of membership to the TDR has been very informative and enjoyable. Thanks.

Since the beginning, I've either started or subscribed/participated in many threads. Sometimes on my User Control Panel... I will go through the last 30 days and unsubscribe from threads I dont have any more interest in.

Is it advisable to unsubscribe from old threads that I doubt will see much more action... or does it hurt/matter? Thanks.

Is there any way to add a box (like one that is used with PMs) to make it easier/quicker to remove no longer needed subscribed threads? That way one could click on alot of them that are to be removed and hit the delete box, instead of doing it individually? Thanks.

Not any easy way, no. One thing you may want to do is change the default to not notify you on threads you post on and then if you want to be notified on a specific thread simply check the box when making the post. That's the way I do it so that I don't get 5 million notifications.

That is only for posts from that point forward. It changes the default when you post something to not send notifications of that post. All the posts you've subscribed to in the past and any that you specifically check the box will still go through.
