Let me start by saying I am new to drag racing -

I have been attending the local Wed evening drag races for the last couple of weeks to see if anyone is running any diesel trucks.

Last night there was a Duramax there (the only diesel truck I have seen anyone run) that seemed pretty quick to me. Because of lighting problems at the end of the track they were limited to running strictly 1/8 mile runs. The Duramax was turning a 9. 34 1/8 at 74mph fairly consistently. What (if it is possible to guess) would be his approximate 1/4 mile time. . ? I did not get a chance to talk to this guy - not sure what mods he had on his truck.

I have been trying to get the courage up to run my truck but have not entered it yet - maybe in the next couple of weeks???

Just curious to see if I might have a chance with this guy if he shows up the night I finally run.

Thanks

Jack

Jack,

I'm gonna guess that would probably be in the mid to upper 14's. I was running an 8. 31 @ 82. 5 mph and my 1/4 time was 13. 16 @ 101. 5 mph. After the 1/8th mile aerodynamics and weight really take over.

Thanks for the reply Meacham. Maybe in the next couple of weeks I'll get a chance to see him run the full 1/4 and find out what he is running..... If I do I'll be sure and let you know how close your guess was.

Thanks again... .

I've got a time slip from early last year when I did 8. 83 @ 74. 98mph in the 8th, my 1/4 ET was 14. 098 @93. 82...

Those Chevy's are heavy; go get 'im!!:)

should run a 14. 5-14. 7. however with the right tuner he could break into the 13s fairly deep but it would eventually take its toll n a stock transmission

Thanks for the replies - as I said above I'll be looking for him the next couple of Wednesday nights and will find out what his 1/4 time is and we'll see who nails it... .
