Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Question about auto and column shifter

I was under the impression that when you put the column shifter in "2", that it would start in second gear and stay there. I put mine in 2, it starts in first but won't let it go past second. Just trying to figure out if I'm wrong, or my truck is.

When you select 2 like that you are limiting the top gear, or downshifting. It won't start in 2nd. Sounds like everything is normal to me.

Had an old Ford-O-Matic (C-4) that started in 2nd gear when you had selector in "2". Any Torque Flight I had if in "2" started out in first then "only" shifted to 2nd gear.



Thc C-4 was great for snow, and if you wanted to race and put it in 2 to start out the other guy blows by you, at the next light ask if he want's to go again for $ - hee, hee.
