So I am wiring up my 4 gauges. I have DiOp Rail Pres. DiOp Boost. Speedhut EGT. Autometer autolite trans temp. Ok so the autometer has the light bulb which has the illum. wire and a ground, and then the 12V lead with a ground. Can I tap into the illum. ground for the 12V lead ground and ground both grounds to the same location underdash????

Also, which wire do I tap into for illum. The DiOp. instructions say not to tap into a dimmer switch but instead use the dimmer provided that is in-line. Which wire from the head light switch on the left bottom corner of dash do I tap into?

Last question, going back to the trans temp... where should I put the sender for the trans fluid?

I used a common ground for my Autometer transmission gauge have had no problems. I didn't tap a wire for ground, but rather grounded to the dash frame under the steering wheel.

Can't speak for the DiOp, but Autometer was OK with tapping into the dimmer switch for the transmission gauge light. On mine I tapped the HVAC system dimmer wire for that gauge.

You'll get a variety of responses here. The Diesel Manor Mopar transmission cooler line is the best solution, but I didn't want to spend that much. I created the poor man's "Mag-Hytec pan" by drilling a hole in the side of my stock pan and installing a B&M universal drain plug kit. The sender goes right where the drain plug would, and I can now drain the pan prior to dropping it. Cost is $10 from Genos or Napa.

I wouldn't use the test ports on the transmission as none of them have fluid flowing during every forward & reverse gear.

If you want to get fancy, one of those weld in bungs that comes with the EGT gauge (at least they come with the Autometer gauges) can be welded into the transmission pan and the transmission temp sender screws right in.
