I had DTT VB & YC installed this past Monday and what a difference!!!

I do have a question though and I am going to try to get a hold of Bill K on Monday but I though I would post it.

I asked Bill what differences I should see in the truck after the installation and among other things he mentioned that while under a load (WOT) I would notice shift points around 3000 rpm and a very small drop in RPM. I had the chance today to hit the highway and floor it. The shift ponts were around 2500 and there was about a 500 rpm drop.

What do some of you that have DTT's VB & TC notice?

Well, Bill or your installer are your best contacts, but having just gone through this I give you my experiences, after asking the following; Is the EZ the only mod your going to do, and is that what was told to Bill? Remember, the VB is setup for various BOMBs and if you planning to add injectors and a fueling box, then this might be right.

Otherwise I'd say your TPS cable needs to be adjusted, and your installer (unless you did it yourself) should have set this up correctly for you. The adjustment is easy when you know what your doing, but can be touchy if you don't. I say that because I think you have to buy the whole cable if you break the little white plastic clip that holds the cable set point.

Since my TC/VB, Fred Swanson (DTT Tech here in Phx. ) and I have tweek my VB to my truck, and will adjust as I add more power. Now at WOT, I'm just above 3k on 1-2, 2-3,3-4 shifts. TC lockup does not really happen under WOT, but pulling it sure does.

1-2 shifts were happening at about 1200 under light throttle application, and we up'd that to 1700. Much better. Did this after the first 1,000 mile fluid change. Also changed to Mopar ATF +4 by my mistake. I like the stuff though. Shifts are firm, but not so jolty.

Overall, I'm real pleased, esp. with the TC. The hookup you get is like it should have been stock. Feels like my '70 Olds TH400, which is one of the best autos ever made. It will make you do a double take sometimes when the TC does lockup. Under light loads the RPM DOES NOT CHANGE. You know the transmission just did something, but the engine sounds the same. I was used to a 2-300 RPM drop on lockup. No more. Just a 'blip'.

Adjust and enjoy!

Steven,

On a 24 valve truck wide open shift points are generally around 3000 rpms. I usually set them around 3100 or 3200rpms,

What your shift points being 2500rpms tell me is something is not set up correctly. Your shift points are considerably lower than what it should be.

1) tv valve cable is out of adjustment

2) tv valve bracket at the transmission is loose

3) tv valve lever at he transmissioln is on upside down

4) governor solenoid in the transmission is faulty.

I have added a new toll free tech line and i will be at the shop today, you can reach me if you want to get it sorted out today, call me at 1-866-504-4002.

Here is some things i want you to do before you call me,

put on a dirty set of clothing , you will be crawling underneath the truck , if you have a friend that can give you a hand it will be a good idea to have them there when you call, you will need 2 people to adjust the cable.

You will need a stubby Phillips screwdriver ,

med sized flat screwdriver

9/16 wrench

portable phone would be handy as i can talk you through the adjustment

It will take about 1/2 hour

Talk about service

This is why DTT is THE BEST:)

How many companies will walk you through an adjustment on a weekend, or at all for that matter.

Although my installation went flawless (lucky me, and thanks MAssdiesel & Moparmuscle) its nice to know that Bill really does stand behind his product.
