I have a question about my 98 CTD 12 valve, My neighbor gave me 3, 55 gallon barrels of Jet A Fuel. Apparently he was a helicopter mechanic for the US Forest Service and the fuel was date stampeded to old for the choppers. He brought the fuel home to use in his back hoe which he did before he passed away. I was wondering if the fuel would work in my CID maybe even mixing the fuel. Any information would be a great help.

Thank You Guys,

Aside from the chemical differences between #2 and Jet A, I would also be concerned that that fuel is prolly pretty old by now, and has been through several hands... any of which might not have cared/known too much about fuel quality. Who knows how much moisture and algae it has accumulated, or how long its been slowly oxidizing? If it ain't good enough for a hellycopter anymore, it sure as heck ain't good enough for my Dodge. I say bag it, buy the fresh stuff, and sleep well at night... just like that helicopter pilot did. :-laf

Sounds like it's time for someone to build a flamethrower :).

My buddy ran waste Jet A in his old VW Jetta for over 100,000 trouble free miles and never had a problem. Your CTD is a little higher risk than an old beat up VW though.
