I have my fuel pressure attached to the pump itself (banjo bolt drilled and tapped), and I notice that when the truck is cold or just in its first 20 or 30 miles of a trip the fuel presure gauge needle reads accuratly (doesn't bounce around ... I have a needle valve to control the pulses). Then after the engine is hot and have traveled over 50 miles or so the gauge needle starts to bounce a little and the longer I drive the more the needle bounces around ... especially after pulling my trailers around for long drives.
What gives? Why does this do it? When this happens, I stop and tighten down on the needle valve in the presure line and back off (about a millionht of an inch), and the gauge still bounces around.
Is this because of the fuel being hot? Or is my P7100 pump just getting old and not running smoth. I have over 195,000 on the truck now.
