What centers fit the H2 Hummer wheels? My new to me '97 has a set of H2's on it, but the PO glued the '97 caps on the rim. They are too small to lock in the middle of the rim. My boy climbed on the cap to look under the hood and it fell off. I'd hate to see these become UFO's at highway speed.

Thanks guys!

I don't know if this will work on your 97, but this is what I did:

On my 06, 2500 when I installed H2 wheels, (After making sure all lug nuts were tight. ) I bought additional stock Dodge lug nuts, and inst. on top of the existing nuts. (On mine, there were 2 or 3 stud threads sticking out of the lug nuts. ) That brought the added nuts out far enough so the stock hub cap clips, would snap onto them. I think I used an additional 4 nuts per wheel.

Warning! If you do this, do not torque the added nuts like the ones holding the wheel on. With only engaging 2 or 3 threads, it will strip the threads. I suggest you put them on finger tight, then add a little more with pliers. I will not say how I know this can happen, but I will say, "It wasn't me!"

Good Luck, Ray

On my H2 rims, I took a stock set of 3rd Gen centers and using a fence on a table saw, removed 1" I believe (do a search, I found the dimension needed on the board). I then used a bench grinder to take off enough material on the clips to fit inside the lip on the rim to get an almost flush fit with the stock Dodge centers. There has been a writeup on this procedure before so someone may chime in with the link to such.

Ray, after I read your post I went out and looked at a cap. I see how they hold on now, duh!

Wolfman, Thanks, I'll search for it. If the "search gods" are with me tonite. ;)

Good info guys, I appreciate it. Looks like I may be making a trip the the "U-Pull It" yard for more caps so I have an extra set. You know, in case something goes wrong. :-laf
