I haven't been over here in the overvalved section much. :D I came across an 02 qc 2500 eth dee. 4x4. Its got 4000 miles on it. they quoted me for around $30k.

I've heard the injection pumps not quite as reliable as the p7100 on the 12 valves. My 95 had the injection pump go out on me in 1998 with 64000 miles on it. I don't want this to happen to me ever again. Until then my eyes are still lookin for a used 12 valve with 215 pump.

Jeff, we have had more than are share of VP44 ( injection pump) failures on this board. Most common is a failing transfer pump slowly dying and taking the VP44 with it. The transfer/lift pump in the 24 valver's is electronic, not mechanical like the 12 valvers. It's very prone to failure. The injection pump in the 24 valvers is cooled with fuel, unlike the P pumps. I don't think this is a reason to avoid a new truck, just be aware of the pre-existing problem and put in a fuel pressure gauge. If you keep an eye on your fuel pressure, and change the lift pumps when they are going South, you should be fine.

I have heard of an occasional P pump from the 1994-5 era going out, especially the 160 hp. Usually failures are caused by water in the fuel, or dirt. The P pump rarely goes out. Mine is the original with way over 100,000 on it.

24 valve lift pumps and VP44s go out much more often.
