Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Question about lift pump purchased

I purchased a lift pump from hoeslidiesel.com. The pump was shown as a Cummins p/n 3990105. The pump received has Carter stamped on the bottom of the motor housing and 01055CO2A on the pump. No labels anywhere on the pump. It looks new, no marks on the input or output ports that would indicate it has ever been used. It also has residue of diesel fuel seeping out of the pump. Anyone else who has purchased from Hoesli diesel have similiar experience. Anyone with ideas?

I have never bought from there, but the lift pumps are made by Carter for Cummins/Dodge, not sure what Carter's P/N is for the pump. In the past when I have purchased LP's from Cummins they have had a light oil on/in them, i would assume for rust prevention, but I dont recall diesel coming out of them. There was enough however that it would have a couple of drips.

the new lp i put on had a bunch of diesel in it. (from cummins) it was installed but uninstalled b/c the lp was not the issue(according to service guy) he also knocked 50 bucks off the price. i installed it and have 14 psi. so far so good.

I just now got my new pump in. I also bought mine from Hoesli Diesel,ordered it thursday A. M and got it on friday via ups. Test run shows 14-15 psi at idle and i CAN'T

pull it below 11psi at WOT Man am a happy camper!!! The pump is in a cummins box and i did not look it over before installing, but it is a heck of a lot better than the 10 idle and 6 at WOT.

I will buy from them again

I received a PM from Hoesli Diesel about my questions concerning the lift pump I got from them. My issues were addressed and if I had any problems I was to let them know. The pump is Cummins and will have a light coating of oil for rust prevention.



The really important part of this is that Hoesli obviously reads this forum and has an interest in us and our issues. They have my business from now on.
