Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Question about Lukes Link

Hello to all,



My brother and another friend who is unfortunately not yet a TDR member seen in the last TDR Mag an article on Lukes Link. Both of them are having steering problems with their Dodge trucks. My brother's buddy's truck is a 98. 5 3500 DRW QC, FWD with 19. 5 inch Rickson wheels. They were wondering if anyone has had any luck with the modifications mentioned in the article?



If anyone can give any info on whether it works or not their help is greatly appreciated!!

I have a RAM2500 that I converted to dually and I had a steering problem with it. It would wander back and forth across the road. I got under it and had my wife rotate the steering wheel back and forth and the tracking bar upper end was loose. The price of a new tracking bar sent me looking for an alternative. I saw Lukes Link in the TDR mag. and ordered it. In about one hour I had the new link installed and that was 80K back and I have not had any trouble yet. The good news is that if trouble does come up, all you have to do is order the internal goodies and away you go again. I swear by my Lukes Link.

I installed one on my track bar, and it made a very nice improvement. I have not done anything to it except keep it greased and it still seems to be tight, with 50,000 miles. The Luke's Link will not fit replacement track bars that have a larger tie rod end.

Lots of folks have Lukes Links and love them.



I had one and had nothing but trouble. Kept working loose, beat a dent in the front diff cover. I hated it.



Then I found the Lindstadt Trac bar fix, problem solved and looks like stock too. Since my original I have done 3 more for others and not a single complaint.



Just offering another option. There is also a kit to use the 03 + up double bushing trac bars in our truck too.

Well, I've had one for over 100k and it has worked just fine. When I ordered the Link I also ordered the bushing for the axle end. That worn out or I should say that I noticed it was worn out a couple of k miles ago. I called Luke's Link and they send me a new one, no charge. That's a company that stands behind their product. Yes, the Link has hit the front diff, so I ground some of it away for clearance. It's a relatively cheap and easy fix for a poor design IMO.

I have 5 of them on the 12v and one on the 24. I have not had any problems. Never hit the diff cover on either. Not sure why some do and some don't. I like them. Been on the 12v for three years now. A little adjustment here and there and good as new.

Do a search there was a good post about this a few months ago. i have them on my truck and had to tighten a few things.
