This is actually a simple question for you folks with a 02.

WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE 3 STRAPS BEHIND THE REAR SEAT??? I"ve got 3 straps that are secured and don't move, they are looped with a metal clevis of some sort. Are they for child seats or something???

thanks,

Corey

In my wifes truck, there was a tag on one of them saying that it was a new safety device for strapping in child seats. I dunno why they were put right up against the window though. Kind of annoying if you ask me.

As soon as I get a chance, I am going to pull out the wifes back seat and rip them damn things out with the quickness... LOL

Kev

I too feel that they are annoying. Child Seat? Why don't they put something useful in there like a Cooler Holder! :D I don't drink, but a place to store some cool soft drinks, or sandwich for the long haul would have been nice. I also think that the rear seat should have a "slide forward" option. Something that would double as a small bed for sleeping.

WAY COOL!

Child seat tethers is what they be

I had to remove the rear seat to get to the torx bolts holding them in. Not a big deal. I kinda thought they were in my line of sight also. So out they came.

Child seat teather

It's a nice addition if you have young children.

Why can't you use them to hold the cooler or the dog or the wifie. .

Ops - Did I say that out loud:D

I guess you could always use the center one to help secure items into the bed of the truck Oo.

Other than that, I was really hoping that there was a REAL cool feature that I hadn't figured out yet. Something like "Aero-drops" out of GOV. airplanes or something

Corey

Were those connected to the seat mounts or the seat belt mounts? The Mrs. has informed me that the Ram WILL be hauling a car seat in the near future (our first), and I have been meaning to get down to Dodge and get a set for my 99. Anyone thats removed them want to part with them?

-Vic

Well congrats! :)

I was going to remove mine, but they don't but me all THAT much. I guess I should leave mine in there because its only time (a few years I hope) before I'll need them. So, if I can figure out a way to tuck them behind them behind the seat, that would be great.

Corey

The straps dont bug me as much as the safety decals on the visors to warn me to use my seat belt. Anyone know how to remove them?

What i think is really funny is the straps don't even work in the first place. I went to put my kids carseat in and the loop is so long that if you tried to attach the carseats teather to it there would be a lot of slack. Most teather attachments are a little behind the seat back allowing the strap and buckle a few inches to attach otherwise the attachments are too close and they will not work

Hey cummins cowboy, if all else fails, read the instructions : ). If you have an owners manual it will show you how to use the teather on the seats. Just in case you dont have a manual, you run the teather thru the fabric loop and either to the left or right, and clip it into the metal clip on one of the adjoining loops. JTMcC.

I had to go out of town the other day and found that these tie downs/ tethers are good for hanging coat-hangered shirts on so they don't get wrinkled. I just put my duffle bag on the seat and hung the clothes from the tether. No wrinkles! Using the dodge clothes hanger creates a blind spot.
