question about the 48re

i was looking at my transmission tonight for where its leaking and i noticed there are some plugs like those on the 12v intake manifold. my question is could a prob be put into one of these and be the same as tapping the hot line to the cooler? they are on the right side back and above the pan. not real big but look the same size as the pre tap hole in the pan for the probe. what do ya'll think? think it could work?

The potential problem is that some of those ports might not have oil flow all the time. I had a probe in the Mass Diesel trans line and wasn't happy with that location either. If I had an auto again, and wanted to monitor transmission temp, which I think is crititcal, I think I would put the sensor in the pan.

Nope, its not the same as tapping the hot line. No, its not a good place for several reasons. Do a search on trans temp probe and you will get a bunch of threads and opinions.
