I tried the MAD ECM on my truck, 2002 with a Goerend/ATS trans. The torque converter I feel is too tight for the Catcher when towing. When towing my trailer, fueling comes on too quick with not enough rpms so the truck feels like it is lugging, i. e. no boost, lots of fuel, low stall tq, especially towing from a stop at the bottom of a mtn. Also I constantly barked my turbo when the trans shifted, the momentary drop of rpm caused the barking and I didn't want to cause damage to the turbo.

All that being said, if I had a normal stall t/c, I would still have the Catcher on my truck, but its just sitting there collecting dust.

My question is, since my truck is a 2002 CA truck, can someone with a 2001 CA truck at least try it to see if he'd like to purchase one without screwing up his truck?

TIA,

Casey

Apparently the answer is "NO", the CaTCHer is year and model specific!

Spoke with Mr. Wagner, and we are going to do a little experiment on my truck and see if it likes a "Special Catcher".

Now I can't wait again!

I would love to try it. I am having trouble with my set up and would love to test drive a catcher. .

Like Hoof Hearted said, the CaTCHER is model & year specific. There must be a dozen or more ECM programs out there & you need the right one for your rig or something or other will not work right. If in dought give Bob a shout. Bob Wagner can probably answer any question you have.

Darkhorse,

Are you running the "Special Catcher" with your setup?

Sometimes I wished I had a manual trans, like right now.

No, I've got the regular. I was on the first "commercial" batch Marco did for the USA. It took three versions to get the right one, but then it was like WOW  . If I recall, Marco originally designed the program for moderate injectors & single chargers. The timing curve is pretty aggressive & if the injectors are to large & the boost to high things start going wrong. My 3. 8's are moderate by todays standards & my Blue Chip APB doesn't affect timing at all. The combination probably wrings the last drop of fuel available with the ETH injector pump. It leaves me all :D :D 's when I step down on the skinny. :-laf

Ok guys I have been off here for about 2 years so I have missed out on a lot, and since I travel all the time don't catch up much but would someone please explain this CATCHER I have been hearing about.

It's a fueling program that was developed in Italy by member Marco. It gets "flashed" into the ECM. It acts very much like the Edge EZ except the throttle response time is significantly reduced. It was designed for street & highway use, both sportive driving & towing. It shines brightest with moderate injectors & fueling boxes that don't do timing.

This is the clearest, most concise, description of a CaTCHer that I have ever read.

Bravo

Talk to TDR member Bob Wagner, he can hook you up, he can supply the ECM or send yours over the pond for the reflash. You won't be sorry!!! :D

True... but

Your 02 MAD ECM will work in an 01 5 speed or automatic, at least for testing purposes. Not for resale however, due to redesigned Oil Pressure Sensor on the 02's.

I know this cause I tried it.

Any 01 trying yours will have oil pressure but will not read any at the gauge... . but the ECM will be fine.

RJ,

Thanks for the info. Took it over to my friends house, but he was too busy to try it, his baby's first bday party going on. We will try later. I'll find out if he has on '01 or '01. 5.

Good stuff.
