question about trucks?

what were the trucks before the first generations? were there any, i dont know much about the older dodge trucks. and if so what were they called? and if not does this mean the first generations were the first trucks of the legendary dodge rams?

Dodge previous to Diesel

First gen. refer to diesels option that started by dodge 1988, I believe. We here on this site only refer to the diesel trucks by 1-2-3 gen. by body style changes.



The only other dodge truck I could think about that needs mentioning is the old military/civilian Power Wagon.



Changed body style several times until the 70-80 style of the first gen.

There have been Dodge trucks since the company belonged to the Dodge brothers. The generation reference that we use is for the different body styles of Cummins powered Dodge pickups. The first one is the '89 to '93, second is '94 to '02, third is the current model.

I believe that the design of the 1st gen started in about 1971. Before 1971 the design was similar, but offered a large 4 door crew cab. Dodge Brothers built their first auto in 1914. I think they were referring to the "real" Power Wagons from the 40s and 50s.
