I have a buddy with a 2004 3500 drw and was hoping to get a few questions answered. Has anyone encountered the dually fenders being loose on the bed side, which is causing damage to the paint. The location which he is speaking of, is located on the top edge of the fender, mounted against the bed. He took his truck to the dealer, and is telling him that all the trucks are doing this. What have you seen for a fix on this propblem?

If you are refering to where the plastic dually fender meets the steel bed the explanation I have heard is that the plastic expands and contracts depending on temperature causing the plastic to rub back and forth a small amount causing a dulling of the paint.

Darn, my truck must be broke again, it does not do that ??? !!! :D (But my cab lites still leak inside on occasion, does yours??)

I'm in even worse shape... my truck is "double broke". No dually fenders rubbing the paint and no cab light leaks. :D

Have a 2005 with 17,000 miles no problem with fenders or lights.

Me too..... is there a "TSB" somewhere for this? :D

I have some issues with the fit of the dually fenders, but no issues with the fender (I think its actually a hard plastic and not fiberglass) rubbing the metal bed. The fit problem I have is on both sides at the front/top corner of each fender. It looks worse in the winter... . and of course is most noticeable when looking back at the fenders in the side mirrors. :(

Could the "dull" paint just be thin paint?? I know some folks can see primer through their paint which may give it a dull appearance. Just a thought.

I'm ok with the fit. After thinking about it awhile I like them better then the one piece G. M. s or Fords. Bad enough if one needs repair or replacement let alone doing body work on the whole side. My paint looks the same all over in the way of shine and no rub spots. My neighbor didn't like his and thank GOD he's not on this site(would have to pay!)He used WHITE LIGHTING CAULK on his seams. Looks like DO DO. I said something right after and have held my tongue since.

There was a problem back with the 03's with the fenders drooping. I believe it was with dark colours. They came out with a double sided tape that they putting in between the fender and the box. This supposedly fixed the problem.
