Question for 60's music fans

I was just listening to "Cherry Cherry" by Neil Diamond. I was wondering this: are The Mamas and the Papas doing the backing vocals on that song? It sure sounds like them.

I saw Neil in the 60's and the keyboardist was doing backup, sounded just like the record. I'll bet the backup on the recording were done by studio singers but you never know back then. Some of his record backups in the old days were done by Barbara Streisand.



One of Neil's first recordings was back up on the song "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini"
