I now have 135k + miles on my 96 truck. The transmission was rebulit by ProLock about 55k miles ago. All of a sudden if I take off in drive the truck will go several feet then die like its locked up? If I shift back to netural real quick it won't die. It runs in reverse just fine, and if I put it in 1st or 2nd it will also go ok. Only drive has the problem? Does not matter if O/D is on or off. I was wondering if anyone had any idea if the problem is probably major and requires a complete rebuild or is it just one of those "don't know until I tear it down" kind of problem?

Looking for any kind of guess.

Thanks Ron

sounds like it's going right to OD lockup. I have a three position "Mystery" switch on my 97, & it will do the same thing if I accidently start moving from a stop with the TC lock "on". I have to quickly move back to "unlock" or off. On 96's, you have to locate the black/orange wire I think it's pin 54 or 53 on the PCM (it's on the firewall on the passenger side) and it's probably grounded, forcing the TC to lockup.

Dennis, if you were close I'd buy you a beer! I have not used that lockup switch in about a year and a half. Wife was cleaning the dash and guess what!

Again, thanks. I could just see the dollars floating away!
