I want to hook up my tach. 1993 ford dash tach , the ford wiring harness pickup has two wires, dk green and tan w/ yellow stripe. Cummins pickup has three wires. Has anybody made this work? Does any body know where I can get the dodge wiring diagram online? I have the ford already. Thanks for any help. copterdoc

well I have 93 manual, but do you use the 93 cummins computer?

it show the the tach signal coming out of the computer, no computer you might have to go the alternater style aftermarket tach?

The ford tach reads off of the injection pump gear, and only gets a signal for every other crank revelution. The cummins is on the crankshaft, and picks up every revelution. So if you found out how to connect the two brands your tach would read double your rpm.

When i put mine in I plan to tap the front gear housing and read off of the camshaft or injection pump gear, and use the ford sensor.

no computer

no I didn't use the computer. Just 2 wires and rollin down the road. Thanks for the advise I. ll see what I can figure out. copterdoc

Tach

I used the Ford Prox. sensor, mounted on a bracket picking up the notches on a "tone ring" mounted behind the fan pulley.

It works great!!

I took a couple pictures of my tach drive setup (tone ring) and AC mount. 856. 9 sent me a PM with some questions on my AC mount setup also. I'll see if I can post the pic. s.

OOPS! Guess I don't know how to add pictures to this. If someone can post them, I can e-mail them to you.

To add the pics, they need to be less than 32k and be 400x400 res or smaller.

Below the text box in the reply, there are some options and below that a place that says attach. Use the browse button to find the file on your computer.

If you don't have any luck you can e-mail the pics to me and I'll post em.

Thanks for getting them.

Pics

I guess its not going to work. I set the camera as low as it would go and they came out 43. 7 kb.

I have the pics. in a folder in "My Pictures" but I don't know what the "File" is that I'm supposed to "attach". ( What it looks like)

John

Digital cameras all have some sort of naming scheme.

For most of them it's sequential, and includes information about the date/time.

Some cameras - like the Sony's will have a file that looks something like this: MVC-pic001.jpg

Since the "JPEG" is sort of the defacto standard for digital picture compression/decompression you could just look for a file with a .jpg extension that was modified or accessed within the timeframe that you uploaded it onto your computer.

Since you can sort any directory by date modified - this should be pretty easy.

Even if you find the file - you'll still have to crop it down a little. Even a program as simple as "Microsoft Paint" can crop down pictures - or reduce the color depth to a point where you are below the 32KB limit imposed by the TDR folks.

Clear as mud?

Just wondering where did you get that combo pulley?

I have the dodge ac unit, but figure I'll continue to use my ford one on a special bracket till it dies.

Thanks

The pulley and tone ring are one piece, the back being turned to match the front contour of the serpentine pulley and held on with the same six bolts. I also had to make a new longer hub for the fan mount (the part with the LH thread) for the new pulley to locate on.

About two and a half day's work on the lathe, miller & grinder!!
