Well I need some input for our dyno rips next year and figured I could get some ideas from our vast membership here and the past competitors from my "Fall Brawl" series of shows. So here is whats up and any ideas or thoughts are welcome...

I have been up to Kauffman's a few times the last couple weeks as have been a few other members. Ernie had on hand on Sunday at this years show his engineer who built the exhaust system so they could try and come up with a better way to exhaust the owners who are stack equipped. He would like to get all the soot exhausted outside and this was the reason for the engineer to be on hand. To say the engineer was shocked is a understatement as he had felt that system he designed would have been enough to clean out the bay area quickly and effortlessly. On Sunday he seen first hand it is not enough. Even with F8LDOSE's top tube pointed rearward the bay was obliterated to the point you couldn't see the computer screen even standing close by.

So here is where we stand at now. The cost to design and build a exhaust system to accomodate the stack owners is huge. With us only doing a few shows a year its not something he feels is worth the cost. We have to come up with a option to enable our stack equipped owners to get the exhaust gasses to the outside of the bay like the other owners in order to allow them to compete. If we don't come up with a way to do this they will not be allowed to dyno at our next shows.

So here are some of our options a few of us have thought of and I will ask for any ideas to help us make sure we can allow everyone to dyno.

-Have the stack equipped owners drop their flew pipes underneath and hook the exhaust tubes up there which will allow the exhaust to go outside.

-Work on a set of metal exhaust tubes which we can set down on top of the stacks and make them long enough to get to the rear of the bed so Kauffmans can hook their tubes up there. These will have be made of some type of metal as PVC will get very soft with heat. They will also have to be made so we can attach a small rachet strap to them to make sure they do not get blown off.

Any help,ideas or thoughts are greatly appreciated... ... ... ... . Andy

I would think this would be the easy way to do it.

Andy, i think this is also the best way to handle this. get with me and i'll make sure i have an assortment of 4/5" fittings/band clamps on hand to accomadate the needs of the group.

Andy,

I have been thinking about this also. I honestly think that having to split the exhaust underneath would be a pain in the *** for the daily driven trucks. I think the easiest solution is to remove the chrome stacks themselves out of the bed. Most are just held on by a step clamp, so they should slide right out. Then have a cap for the drivers side and a short stack for the passenger side with a really long 90 on it. You then could attach the exhaust hose to that. This would be very easy. The truck owner who drove thier truck to the event could just jump up in the bed and have the stacks out in a minute without having to crawl around underneath and disassemble everything. It would only take a minute once in the dyno shop to slide the shop's plug and short stack into the pipes and clamp it tight.

I also thought about sliding something over the stacks, but then you would have to clamp it to hold it on. That would probably mark up everyone's nice shiney stacks.

You could take a big hose like they use for indoor pulling applications Y it off the one end so you have one hose for each stack with an exhaust fan at the other end and suspend the hose from the cieling you might be able to use straps or something simular. I know some of the stacks are kinda hard to take off once they get hot and have been on there for a couple of months.

I totally dig the picture of the gal with her hand over her mouth. I can only imagine what she said/thought at that moment: "Oh my gawd! *gasp!*"
