Here's a question for you guys' with clear warrenty violations like bigger turbos, Edge Comp with the fuel wire hooked up to the pump, or bigger injectors, basically things that are not easily removed. When you have engine trouble or other warrenty issues do you fix it yourself, take it to the dealer and pay, or bring it to a good diesel shop? Just wondering.

My Plan

My plan: is to make the trans bulletproof, [with DTT's TC and VB] This is done. [very impressed with this mod]

The engine itself should not give up. I sure hope not. [change the oil, keep the egt's below 1250*]

But all the other stuff [the rest of the truck] is a big question mark??

On Monday morning I test the warrantee from the local 'bomb friendly' dealer. Because my lift pump has gone down the drain after only 14,750 miles.

So I'm hoping that as long as I haven't made a modification to the actual part that has gone bad, that the 'bomb friendly' dealer will cover the warrantee work.

My plan: I sure hope it works!

If somehting goes wrong, I'll either fix it myself or have a competent shop fix it for me. The only warranty repair done to my truck to date was the clock spring and the replacement broke after 6 days  .

I didn't even bother with the dealer when my lift pump went. It's a pretty straight forward job to install. Got my pump from Cummins $130 and took an hour to put on. Kat sounds like you need to buy another C. T. D. for the significant other ;) . Doug

What do you consider mild? :D

If from this point on I have engine or drivetrain trouble I will take care of it myself, by either doing the work myself, or having a comptent shop do it.

I am going to take it to the dealer to get a tierod under warrenty I think or I should say I hope, still haven't decided, the hood attracts too much attention I damn sure won't leave it :D

I spilt this thread to get it a bit back more "on topic" Those of you posted on "both" subjects will need to post here again, I moved all the posts that involved my girlfriend to a new thread which can be located by clicking the link below. Sorry for the inconvience.

I already got a BD P-N-P2 and it's pretty cool and I would definatly like to go alot farther, but a 5yr warrenty is pretty tough to through away. It might be gone already though because the void sticker is gone from the VP-44. Either way I'm not too thrilled about bringing my truck to the dealer for motor work anyways. I'd rather pay and have it done right!
