Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) question on EGT probe

My truck had probe installed when I bought it. Just realized after watching a video on probe installation that the PO installed it on the back of turbo right between turbo and downpipes flange. This doesn't seem right to me. Should I relocated to the exhaust header for proper reading?

It will be more of a direct read in the manifold-post turbo will be inaccurate during transitions and the 300 degree difference is not always correct
