I am new to diesels and I plan to keep mine probably all stock it is a 2004. 5 5. 9L all stock with 4x4 auto trans. I was wondering should I install a pyrometer or will the engiine de-fuel at a reasonable egt. I don't want to run hot egt's lets say above 1250. Thanks so much for the info. you guys are very helpful on this website I really appreciate it. Bobby

Hey Thanks, what pyro should I get. I was thinking autometer but does that come as a kit? I have been to Geno's Garage but I did not order a pyro yet because I need to know exactly what to get. Thanks again for the help and quick responses. -Bobby

Isspro makes some pretty nice setups. if you get the egt i asume you would get the boost also? if you do i would get a A-pillar mount. you might aswell go ahead and get tripple mount, for egt, boost, trans temp. they might cost you a bit now, but itll be worth it to you in the long run. even if you not juicing the truck up yet, atleast it will give you a good baseline to go off of once you to mess with it. and just so you can know what your truck is doing.

hope that helps.

I always assumed that a stock truck wouldn't get too hot, but when I put gauges in my truck, I saw that my EGT's could EASILY get over 1500 degrees towing uphill if I wasnt careful. Oh, and that's only pulling a trailer that weighs between 6 and 7K.
