There are 2 rubber-plastic plugs at the bottom of each door inside of the weather stripping. Is it better to remove these plugs so if any moisture (water) got in the door it would just drain out? Seems like it would be better to have the holes uncovered since they are on the inside of the weather stripping, what is the down side to removing these plugs? Thanks

Leave the plugs in. The doors have plenty of drainage. They can be removed to clean out any access dirt that may accumulate if neccessary.

I would think that removing the plugs would allow a lot more dust in, could play havoc with your power windows. I know my truck gets very dusty in that area. My vote is to leave the plugs in although some have said removing lets the water drain.

Plugs

Since my '94, I've removed the plugs as soon as I got the truck home, with no adverse effects. I've had front mud flaps on all of 'em too, that might make a difference. I've not noticed any trash being thrown up in that area.

Thanks for the advise guys. I don't have front mud flaps, pulled all of the plugs out and checked them. Looks like no water or condensation inside the doors so I put the plugs back in. Truck is 24 months old today so I figure if I have not had a problem in 24 months I won't have a problem. I guess I am kinda anal :)

There was a topic about this in one of the early TDR issues. When parked faceing downhill, rain water would enter the door and begin to fill. There is no weep hole in the front panel of door, just in the rear. If plugs are in, the first hole the water rises to is a door panel clip. The water then runs into your truck. Article mentioned a "couple of gallons" got into floor area. Check your truck to see if there is a weep hole in front part of door. Mine dosen't have one and I removed the plugs. Don't remember what issue, but is was when I first got my truck, in 94 or 95.
