Since the blend door cannot be seen without removal I have to ask if this seems normal or if I am a candidate for TSB 24-004-03

All functions seem to be fine except that when on the floor only I still get just a little air to the defroster and also when only on defrost I still get a little air from the floor vent, not much but just a little.

Anyone had this TSB done? If so what were your symptoms?

Also anyone care to to check if theirs operates like mine?

Thanks ;)

Matt, it's possible you could be a candidate for that TSB, but if I were you I'd forget about it. You realize they have to remove your entire dash to get the air box out? I mean EVERYTHING, including the steering column. I don't know about you, but I've got over 250 ft. of wiring I've installed behind there and I don't want anyone touching it.

If it were me, I think I'd live with it as long as it's just a little air leakage.

I was kinda thinking that myself, actually I have a deal going with my Dealer where they supply the parts and I supply the labor on these TSB's.

Going that route saves me from taking time off from work to drop off and pick up plus I don't have to worry about a flat rate guy trying to beat warranty time.

So far I have done the door seals, alt bracket and p/s hose myself. The heater box is a more intense job for sure, I have done many heater cores so this one looks like a saturday 1/2 day for me.

Air leakage is pretty minimal so maybe nothing is broke in there at all. Would be interesting to convert it to the dual zone while it was all out though. I wonder if its just the control head, dual blend doors and top case to change or if its much more parts involved.

I was just out with my truck and decided to see how it behaves. With the vent set to defrost only and the fan on minimum I get no air out of the floor. With the fan on maximum I get some air out of the floor.

So if yours is not quite right, neither is mine. I'm not touching it, though!

Pretty much all the D/C vehicles will have some airflow out floor vents when in defrost mode. This has been designed in.

Acuator door inoperative.

I noticed a issue with mine last winter on this very same subject. I have also noticed again this year it is acting kinda funny again at times. I have debated about having the TSB done. At this point since I have a little over a year left on the 3 year warranty I'm going to live with it for now, unless something totally breaks in there an I get no flow at all. My truck interior does not have a rattle or squeak one at this time an I know with my luck if I had the TSB done I would probaly end up with something driving me crazy squeaking or rattling all the time. :(

Some air flow to floor is normal, tsb is for inop defrost door, won't blow to windsheild.

If this is the case then the lower housing is replaced, mine started out taking a long time to switch to defrost and then just quit working . .

Tony, have you ever removed your center bezel? If so, there's a chance one of the heater control electrical connectors isn't fully re-engaged. Take it apart again and press in both connectors just to be sure. Remember what happened to me here

No Ryan I have not removed anything other than knee bolster when gauges where installed. Checking the connectors would be the first place to start, this also could be my problem like what you had. More I think about it this very well could be the problem, because everything seems to work fine an then controls will act kinda funny like a loose connection. Thanks for the heads up, I'll check there first.

It's not that big of a job. I had mine done and it only took them a couple of hours. Now, everything works great. If I were you I'd have it done.
