Here's a possible source - they have both the . 22 birdshot, and regular ammo in stock - and yeah, I have several pump-up type pellet guns that are up in the 1200 FPS range - fun for squirels and similar...

I followed that link to Cabella's site. The cartridges displayed on the link were ratshot. Nothing, nada, was available in . 22 caliber once I opened the link and tried repeatedly to select one of their products.

I'd suggest the bigger box stores, such as Wal-Mart... . the Wal-Mart up on Franklin would be your best bet, if you can find some on a day when they get a shipment in. JFYI, Academy gets shipments on MWF from Sports South..... I know you don't have time to haunt those stores, but if you make it to Lubbock, I'd suggest those two and probably SharpShooters down on 50th, just North of West Loop 289 about 3 blocks... . They're prices are a little higher, but they're probably the best dedicated shop in the area, definitely with the most inventory.

I was in Academy about ten days ago and they had none. While I was in the store I saw perhaps 8 or 10 men come in inquiring about ammunition. I've heard Sharpshooters mentioned many times but never been there. I'll try them next time I'm in Lbk.

I would stay away from subsonic . 22 ammo made by remington. Actually, poor statement, only get one 50 rnd box and see how it shoots, ammo shoots different out of different guns. I bought a brick of subsonics a yr or so ago from gander mtn because they were on sale(go figure) for my 10/22 deluxe and it has a terrible group. Went back to winchester wildcats and its fine. I rarely shoot the . 22 anymore ever since getting the . 17 HMR. As stated earlier, I also have a 22 mag that is only for birdshot as the barrel is reamed out, but works great for that purpose, and its a lot of fun. Be careful of shooting too much of it through your new . 22 as others have noted.

I returned the . 22 birdshot cartridges to the seller so I won't be shooting any of them. I got a big multi-color page Ganders flyer in the mail yesterday advertising all kinds of ammunition and guns. I was thinking of going to Lubbock anyway so showed up at Ganders just after 9 am. My first clue was the parking lot was full. So was the store. Men and a few women all over the guns and ammo area. No . 22 left!

Oh well. Maybe by summer I can buy a few boxes and shoot it a little.

I am beginning to wonder the same.

I don’t mind flying back and forth, which is averaging 4-1/2 turns per month, but I’ll tell you something, it’s no easy chore divesting oneself from Ka. and will be near impossible until I sell my home, which is another problem being that my home is not in the, “High demand,” category.

Well, if you can find an experienced, honest, trustworthy property manager you like you could always rent it and collect the rent. All expenses and taxes plus depreciation related to that house then become deductible on your income tax return.

True. but then I would still be generating an income for the state, which is exactly what I don't want to do. I haven't done any research but I'm guessing that a lease amount may be price prohibitive. From what I've heard, the standard 4-5 BD 3 BA home in the area goes for around 3-3500 per month... which would be do-able if that was what I had to offer.

Sorry Mr. Barlow, don't mean to hijack your thread on the 22LR. I'll be going to Fowlers tomorrow and will let you know what they have in stock.

Down in the body text/listing, they claimed to have both the Rat Shot AND regular slug stuff in stock at the time I posted that pointer, but shortly after, they apparently changed the listing, and now ALL their . 22 stuff is out of stock, and all they even show is the Rat Shot - but you never know, stuff seems in and then out of stock within hours. Fortunately, I have about 5 bricks of Federal and Winchester and Remington LR in the gun cabinet, as well as 22 Mag and the . 17 stuff for the Savage target rifle. I always make sure to keep LOTS of spare ammo for the various rifles and handguns on hand, for EXACTLY the scenario we are now seeing and I've been long expecting...



Some of the . 22 LR stuff was bought when shelves were full, and selling for about $5 a brick on special promotions - good move, it seems now...



Here's some pics of part of my gun/ammo stuff - WAY less impressive than what many here have, but I'm far more a target shooter than a hunter, and the only "hunting" guns I have are a Remington . 270 for Deer/Elk, and a 12 ga shotgun... .

As I have posted in another thread regarding escape from Kalifornia I owned a home in KA that I left in the hands of a broker to lease to tenants from 1988 through 1998. KA never made any attempt to bill me for taxes on income derived from KA for a little over ten years or for the significant capital gain realized upon the sale.

Dumocrap governments are greedy and seek to tax everything that can't defend itself but they are always staffed with incompetents too lazy to do the job very well and too stupid to consider all the angles.

I don't know for a fact but would bet KA has never figured out a way to close the loophole of income earned in the state but paid to unknown recipients who don't report it. I'd bet you could avoid the tax.

I stopped at Fowler's on the way home from work Friday looking for a Marlin lever in 357 or 44. I was thinking about Harvey at the time. I was stunned when I walked in and saw how empty it was. They've always been proud of their prices, so I figured there'd still be a decent selection. Their stock was down about 70-80%. Even worse on hand guns. Caused me to forget all about the 22L. I talked with one of the managers & he said they're out of about everything, though I saw some rifle ammo lined up behind the counter. They had a fair selection of levers, but those aren't too popular around here, so I'd expect that. No 357 or 44 though. It's good to be stocked up on ammo. It'll take a year or more for supply to catch back up and the prices get back to normal.



The O. C. show three miles from my house was ridiculous from the reports I got last week. I was going to swing by Sunday after it thinned out, but I heard Sunday was almost as bad as Sat, and it rained Saturday AM. I'm going down to the S. D. show at the end of the month. It's usually a pretty quiet venue. I'll look for 22 down there as well.

A fellow TDR member who seldom posts because he's always working in the oil patch offered me a couple of boxes he has on hand and as soon as a warm clear day with low wind comes along I'm going to ride down to Odessa where he lives to have lunch with him and pick them up.

Harvey the 22 hornet is entirely different than a 22lr it is a center fire varmint round. hold on to the Remington. it looks like enough democrats are changing there minds and the gun band is changing to background check and trafficking. it will take about a year to get backlog caught up. wolf out of Russia is gearing up additional factories for 22lr i expect them to be importing more into the USA than the us is manufacturing.

Good news. I haven't really been following the issue but had seen a couple of hints that some of them were folding after hearing from their voters.

One of the big internet dealers whose website I searched indicated an expected availability date of . 22 LR ammunition by June.

I saw Federal 22LR at a gun show in Myrtle Beach, SC, yesterday. A vendor said he would let me have a 500 round box for $70, since it was late in the day. He had been asking $90. I don't if he sold any at either price. Would you believe!! Mark
