A friend of mine has a Dodge 2500 with the 5. 7 Hemi. The transmission is a "45RFE". What do these numbers/letters represent? I am familiar with the 47RE, RH but The "5" would seem to be regressive and I don't know what the "F" stands for.

Before anyone jumps all over me for posting in the wrong web site let me say that I have a much better chance of getting an answer here than anywhere else!!

TIA,

Richard

That is the new designation for the 5 speed auto. Based on our transmission design with an extra clutch pack in it to give the 5th gear. I think some transmission guys are leary about it. A good friend of mine has his own shop and doesn't like what he saw at tech school.
